  • Publication number: 20080236137
Abstract: The present invention relates to a structural or non-structural turbojet engine fan casing connecting arm (8B) that also acts as a flow straightener downstream of the fan rotor (3). Its distinctive feature is that it is constructed in such a way as to form an acoustic attenuator. In particular, it comprises a closed cavity and perforations (83) on one of the faces (8B in, 8Bex) so as to form a Helmholtz resonator. The arm forms part of the intermediate casing (8).

  • Publication number: 20080193753
Abstract: This specification discloses fiber additives for reinforcing matrix materials and an apparatus for forming the same, said fibers having flattened shanks terminated with egg-shaped nodules. The apparatus comprises a roller-former-cutter assembly that forms the fibers in a single operation from continuous filaments using compressive force and a unique cut-out and blade assembly. The fibers described are designed to have an increased pull-out resistance compared to other fiber morphologies.

  • Publication number: 20080173114
Abstract: The present invention relates to an accessory gear box driveshaft (125) in a turbojet engine with intermediate casing (119), designed to be mounted in a radial arm (119c) of the intermediate casing (119), said shaft being connected, at a first end, to a means (126) of mechanical transmission to an engine shaft of the turbojet engine, and, at a second end, to a means of mechanical transmission to said box and comprising a bevel gear (125a1) between the two ends, to provide mechanical transmission to an additional accessory (128). This shaft is notable in that, together with said gear (125a1), it is contained in a case (131) forming an oil circuit sealed against said arm (119c). The invention also relates to an accessory (128) comprising a drive shaft (128a) collaborating with the gear (125a1) of the transmission shaft (125) and forming a modular assembly (130) therewith.

  • Patent number: 7195444
Abstract: The invention relates to a turbomachine comprising a rotor with a drive shaft centered on the axis of the turbomachine by a first bearing and a second bearing which bearings are supported respectively by a first-bearing-support piece and a second-bearing-support piece which are secured to one another and connected to the turbomachine fixed structure by a decoupling device. This turbomachine comprises means designed to collaborate with at least one element of the turbomachine fixed structure in order to perform a dual function, that of preventing the bearing supports, from rotating and that of radially retaining the drive shaft in the event of the bearings becoming decoupled.

  • Publication number: 20070002679
Abstract: A liquid proportioning system controls the mixing of water and a fire retardant concentrate through the operation of a diaphragm operated valve. The diaphragm valve controls the flow rate of concentrate in response to the sensed pressure of water supplied to a proportioner, so that a predetermined proportion of concentrate and water is maintained.

  • Patent number: 7135697
Abstract: A semiconductor quantum dot device converts spin information to charge information utilizing an elongated quantum dot having an asymmetric confining potential along its length so that charge movement occurs during orbital excitation. A single electron sensitive electrometer is utilized to detect the charge movement. Initialization and readout can be carried out rapidly utilizing RF fields at appropriate frequencies.

  • Patent number: 6545946
Abstract: For use with a high gain receiver circuit which receives echo pulses of frequencies within a predetermined bandwidth and at times within interpulse periods of a predetermined pulse repetition rate and amplifies the echo pulses for measurement purposes, the receiver circuit susceptible to electrical noise within the frequency bandwidth of the received echo pulses to create false echo pulses, a method of eliminating substantially the false echo pulses without affecting substantially the amplified echo pulses by accepting only echo pulses which occur synchronously among interpulse periods. The pulse repetition rate may be varied to eliminate false echo pulses that are synchronous to the interpulse periods.
