  • Patent number: 8827957
Abstract: A basal hub for attaching to an infusion base is disclosed. The hub includes a fluid reservoir and pressure actuating device. A septum portion of the reservoir is configured to be opened by a flow cannula that is in fluid communication with an infusion cannula of the infusion base, when the basal hub is attached to the infusion base. The pressure actuating device applies pressure to the fluid reservoir, such that when the septum portion of the fluid reservoir is pierced by the by the flow cannula, liquid stored in the fluid reservoir is released from the fluid reservoir into the infusion cannula of the infusion base via the flow cannula. The basal hub is configured to deliver a basal dose of insulin during periods of inactivity, such as during sleep time.

  • Publication number: 20140155678
Abstract: An approach combining immune-based therapies with focused radiation, including stereotactic radiation, to treat cancers is disclosed. The use of focused radiation primes the immune system in a similar manner to vaccines to augment immune-based therapies and can counteract the suppressive effects of a tumor. The combination of focused radiation and immune-based therapies, including administration of at least one immunotherapeutic agent, improves survival compared to each therapy alone and can, in some cases, lead to a durable cure. Accordingly, focused radiation can be an adjuvant for immune-based therapies for treating cancers.

  • Patent number: 8042341
Abstract: An accessory gear box driveshaft in a turbojet engine with intermediate casing, designed to be mounted in a radial arm of the intermediate casing is disclosed. The shaft is mechanically connected, at a first end, to a an engine shaft of the turbojet engine, and is mechanically connected, at a second end, to a gear box. The shaft includes a bevel gear between the two ends, to provide mechanical transmission to an additional accessory. This shaft is notable in that, together with the gear, it is contained in a case forming an oil circuit sealed against the arm. The accessory includes a drive shaft collaborating with the gear of the transmission shaft and forming a modular assembly therewith.

  • Publication number: 20110233154
Abstract: This invention is a stand or chock used to park the heaviest of motorcycles. It is extremely easy to enter and exit the chock/stand even when not fixed or bolted to the floor. The smallest of operators will appreciate the ease, safety, and control during the removal of the motorcycle from the chock accomplished with a very light push of a pedal or use of the linear actuators. Commercial establishments such as a motorcycle dealers with many and varying sized motorcycles will like the fact that this motorcycle chock needs no adjustment one size fits all. Because it is so easy to eject the motorcycle from the stand an automatic locking and disconnect system is provided to prevent accidental removal.

  • Patent number: 7785066
Abstract: The bypass turbomachine comprises, between a primary flowpath (2) and a secondary flowpath (3), a structural intermediate casing (14). A bleed passage (29) allows the diversion of a portion of the gas stream toward the secondary flowpath (3), downstream of support arms (18) situated at the periphery of the intermediate casing. A bleed opening (28) emerges upstream of the support arms (18). A slide valve (22) slides between three positions, namely a closed position in which the slide valve (22) completely blocks off the bleed passage and opening, an intermediate position in which the bleed opening (28) emerging upstream of the support arms (18) is blocked off, while the bleed passage (29) for diverting a portion of the gas stream downstream of the support arms (18) is open, and an open position in which the bleed opening (28) emerging upstream of the support arms (18) and the bleed passage (29) emerging downstream of the support arms are both open.

  • Publication number: 20100040636
Abstract: We demonstrate herein that neuritin controls the homeostasis of regulatory T cells in an antigen dependent manner. Based on this discovery, we describe herein the application of neuritin as a therapeutic agent to manipulate antigen specific regulatory T cells in various disease settings is described. Thus manipulation of Treg cells and DCs through neuritin can be used to enhance immunotherapy of autoimmune diseases, cancer and infectious diseases, as well as enhance lymphocyte engraftment in settings of donor lymphocyte infusion, bone marrow transplant, as well as other types of transplants, and adoptive transfer.

  • Patent number: 7552591
Abstract: The invention relates to a twin spool turbine engine comprising a high-pressure rotor and a low-pressure rotor, at least one accessory gearbox, a drive means, driving coaxial transmission shafts that transmit movement to the accessory gearbox, characterized in that the drive means comprises a high-pressure drive pinion secured to the high-pressure rotor near its upstream end, a low-pressure drive pinion secured to the low-pressure rotor upstream of the high-pressure rotor, and a power take-off module in direct mesh with the drive pinions, driving the transmission shafts. By virtue of the invention, the transmission shafts run coaxial with one another and therefore pass through a single arm. The use of a power take-off module simplifies the mechanism. The turbine engine is simpler to assemble.
