  • Patent number: 10973560
Abstract: A bone plate fixation system for fixation of the distal radius bone includes a bone plate having an elongate shaft portion and a triangular-shaped head portion, with each portion defining a number of bone screw openings extending therethrough for receipt of bone screws. The triangular-shaped head portion may define an elongate visualization window having a window length extending across a width of the bone plate. At least some of the openings include flexible fins protruding radially inward into the opening and deflectable by the head of a bone screw to retain the bone screw in position within the opening. In one embodiment, the bone plate has an outer perimeter that is substantially symmetrical relative to a longitudinal axis of the bone plate. In another embodiment, the elongate shaft portion includes an elongate slot having a length extending along the longitudinal axis.

Abstract: A variable angle locking implant includes a bone plate having a lower surface, an upper surface, and at least one opening extending from the lower surface to the upper surface along an axis. The opening has a plurality of fins oriented along a plane. The axis is non-perpendicular to a tangent of a projection of the lower surface across the opening, the tangent defined at the intersection between the axis and the projected lower surface, and/or the plane is non-parallel to the tangent. The implant includes at least one fastener, and the plurality of fins are deflectable relative to a head portion of the fastener such that the fastener can be inserted and retained at any one of a plurality of angles.

  • Patent number: 9125699
Abstract: Systems for reducing a fracture in a bone, comprising a bone plate and a polyaxial fastener. In some examples the head of the polyaxial fastener has a deformable portion. As a fastener is inserted into an opening of a bone plate, threads located within the opening deform the deformable portion to secure the fastener in place at a desired angle within the opening. The head of the fastener also includes a bottom portion that bears against a portion of the opening to move the bone plate relative to the underlying tissue. A securing member or other structure may be included at the interface of the head and the deformable portion to secure the deformable portion to the head. At least one flute may be included on the deformable portion that provides a lead-in for the threads within the opening to cut into the deformable portion.
