  • Patent number: 10957892
Abstract: A battery interconnect may include a desired current capacity, integrated fusible links, and be manufacturable using cost effective techniques. In some embodiments, a battery interconnect includes a busbar and relatively thinner links. A busbar carries larger currents and accordingly its cross-sectional areas are relatively larger to reduce ohmic losses. A link carries a much smaller current, and a fusible link is configured to break the circuit when the current is above a threshold, thus requiring a relatively small cross-sectional area. These sometime disparate length scales are addressed using several techniques such as layering a busbar and a foil sheet and pressing portions of a busbar to form the links. The links can be affixed to a plurality of battery cells to connect the cells in parallel or series.

  • Patent number: 10940611
Abstract: A cleaving system employs a shaper, a positioner, an internal preparation system, an external preparation system, a cleaver, and a cropper to cleave a workpiece into cleaved pieces. The shaper shapes a workpiece into a defined geometric shape. The positioner then positions the workpiece such that the internal preparation system can generate a separation layer at the cleaving plane. The internal preparation system focuses a laser beam internal to the workpiece at a focal point and scans the focal point across the cleaving plane to create the separation layer. The external preparation system scores the external surface of the workpiece at a location coincident with the separation layer. The cleaver cleaves the workpiece by propagating the crack on the external surface along the separation layer. The cropper shapes the cleaved piece into a geometric shape as needed.

  • Publication number: 20210055070
Abstract: A firearm safety device purposed to obstruct the chamber of a firearm to block insertion of a cartridge therein, effectively disabling the firearm. In embodiments, the firearm safety device comprises a plug and a key. The plug may be sized for fitting within the chamber of essentially any firearm. The plug may be inserted into and removed from the firearm through the breech end of the chamber, thereby lessening both wear on the plug and potential damage to the firearm resulting from plug insertion or removal. The key interacts with the plug for easy positioning of the plug within the chamber and pulling removal of the plug out from the breech end of the chamber. Unauthorized removal of the plug is difficult without the key. The safety device enables repeated cycling of the action and dry firing of the firearm enabling the firearm to be handled safely for uses such as for retail sale purposes and for firearm use and safety training.
