  • Publication number: 20140281840
Abstract: Methods and systems for efficient Reed-Solomon (RS) decoding are provided. The RS decoding unit includes both an RS pseudo decoder and an RS decoder. The RS pseudo decoder is configured to correct a small number of errors in a received codeword, while the RS decoder is configured to correct errors that are recoverable by the RS code. The RS pseudo decoder runs in parallel with the RS decoder. Once the RS pseudo decoder successfully decodes the codeword, the RS decoder may stop its processing, thereby reducing the RS decoding latency.

  • Publication number: 20140263211
Abstract: A display such as a liquid crystal display has a display substrate that includes a layer of liquid crystal material sandwiched between a color filter layer and a thin-film-transistor layer. An oversized polarizer is laminated to the surface of the display substrate. Laser-based polarizer trimming equipment is used to trim away excess portions of the polarizer from the display substrate. A thickness gauge gathers thickness information from the laminated polarizer and display substrate. The thickness information is used to adjust the position of a laser relative to the polarizer during polarizer trimming operations. The laser beam moves along a cutting path that is unique to the display substrate. A vision system performs an inspection to determine whether the display substrate is damaged following polarizer trimming operations. Based on the inspection, laser parameters may be adjusted prior to performing polarizer trimming operations on additional polarizers and display substrates.

  • Publication number: 20140273506
Abstract: A system and method for anti-reflective layers is provided. In an embodiment the anti-reflective layer comprises a polymer resin which has repeating units within it. At least one of the repeating units comprises a locked unit which has a cyclic structure and a lock within the unit. After the anti-reflective layer has been applied and baked, irregularities such as voids and step heights differences that have occurred may be handled by unlocking the lock within the locked unit. This unlocking breaks the cyclic structure, allowing the polymer to take up more volume and causing the anti-reflective layer to self-expand, filling the voids and reducing the step-height. The unlocking may be performed by exposure or thermal treatments.
