    Abstract: A fast device discovery protocol with a high success rate for device-to-device (D2D) communication in LTE-A networks is proposed. With the proposed protocol, device discovery is done by monitoring a randomly transmitted beacon from other devices within a pre-defined period. In one embodiment, an eNB receives scheduling requests from D2D UEs and in response allocates a distributed uplink resource for random access of beacon transmission by the D2D UEs. The distributed resource is dynamically allocated based on the number of requesting D2D UEs, a discovery period, and a target discovery probability to minimize the required resource.

    Abstract: The apparatus of measuring a workpiece according to the present disclosure includes a base, a measuring member, an upper arm member, a lower arm member, a first pin and a second pin, wherein the upper arm member includes an upper rotation frame and the lower arm member includes a lower rotation frame. When the first pin is moved to disconnect the upper rotation frame from the lower rotation frame, the upper rotation frame is rotatable. When the second pin is moved to lock the lower rotation frame to the measuring member, the lower rotation frame is free of rotation. When the first pin is moved to connect the upper rotation frame and the lower rotation frame with each other and when the second pin is moved to unlock the lower rotation frame from the measuring member, the lower rotation frame is rotatable with the upper rotation frame.

    Abstract: A post placement abutment treatment for cell row design is provided. In an embodiment a first cell and a second cell are placed in a first cell row and a third cell and a fourth cell are placed into a second cell row. After placement vias connecting power and ground rails to the underlying structures are analyzed to determine if any can be merged or else removed completely. By merging and removing the closely placed vias, the physical limitations of photolithography may be by-passed, allowing for smaller structures to be formed.
