  • Patent number: 8000352
Abstract: A synchronizer for a communication device and an access point, which is installed inside the communication device and comprises a coefficient generator generating a set of coefficient code. A parallel-to-serial converter receives a set of input code from an access point, performs a parallel-to-serial conversion on the set of input code and outputs a result. A coefficient element array includes a plurality of coefficient elements interconnecting with each other. Each of the coefficient elements receives the set of input code from the parallel-to-serial converter and receives the set of coefficient code, and then performs a passive or active correlation operation on the set of input code and the set of coefficient code to output a correlation value to the access point for synchronizing signals of the communication device and the access point.

  • Publication number: 20100146373
Abstract: The present invention discloses a configurable hierarchical comma-free Reed-Solomon decoding circuit and a method thereof. The design is based on an original hierarchical parallel architecture which not only completes a decoding process faster than conventional decoder, but also utilizes less hardware to perform various algorithms with less power consumed. The architecture of the present invention has higher decoding rate than the conventional systolic architecture by a cycle ratio of 22 to 94. Further, the present invention does not require the use of ROM to store 64 sets of codewords and uses logic gates less than one fourth of the logic gates than conventional systolic architecture. As a result, the circuit of the present invention occupies less area than the conventional architecture. The circuit of the present invention is also configurable for different applications, so it can always find an optimal compromise between speed and power consumption for various decoding requirements.

  • Publication number: 20100136534
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of identifying a serotype of Klebsiella pneumoniae, in particular to a method using specific polymerase chain reaction (PCR) primer sets designed according to a fragment of a capsular polysaccharide synthesis (cps) region to identify a K57 or a NTUH-N1 serotype and its application. NTUH-N1 is a novel serotype which differs from the previously reported 77 serotypes. This PCR-based cps genotyping method not only solves the problems of insufficient specificity and sensitivity caused by conventional immune method, but can be applied in clinical diagnosis with the advantages of rapidity and low cost. In addition, the rate of unidentifiable strains can also be reduced by this method.

  • Publication number: 20090135188
Abstract: A method and a system of live detection based on a physiological motion on a human face are provided. The method has the following steps: in step a, a motion area and at least one motion direction in visual angle of a system camera are detected and a detected facial region is found. In step b, whether a valid facial motion exists in the detected facial region is determined. If a valid facial motion is inexistent, the object is considered as a photo of human face, otherwise, the method proceeds to step c to determine whether the facial motion is a physiological motion. If not, the object is considered as the photo of human face, yet considered as a real human face. The real human face and the photo of human face can be distinguished by the present invention so as to increase the reliability of the face recognition system.

  • Patent number: 7450770
Abstract: The present invention provides a high-speed, memory efficient parallel coding technique for embedded block coding with optimized truncation (EBCOT) used in still image compression. Attributing to parallel processing method and structure, it processes a discrete wavelet transform (DWT) coefficient at a clock cycle without any state variable stored. Therefore, the need of state variable memory can be avoid and the external memory bandwidth can be reduced. With the same cost of chip-area and lower power consumption, the processing rate of this invention is several times higher than conventional schemes. Furthermore, the present invention processes 50 M coefficients per second at 100 MHz and can encode lossless HDTV 720 p resolution pictures at 30 fps in real time.

  • Publication number: 20080260063
Abstract: This invention provides a sequence generating method, in which the method has steps of generating R sets of orthogonal sequence with each set of the orthogonal sequence including N elements, generating a low-autocorrelation sequence having N elements, and multiplying the N elements of the low-autocorrelation sequence by the N elements of each of R sets of the orthogonal sequence point-to-point. Therefore, a sequence generated by the method of the present invention has low-autocorrelation and low-crosscorrelation in transmission characteristics of a communication system.

  • Patent number: 7379545
Abstract: A system for automatic call-transfer using a softphone, which applies the functions of a hardware telephone on a personal computer, is achieved by integrating a softphone system, a computer-telephony integration system, and a private branch exchange. This system is performed mainly in a manner of automatically fast swapping the first line and the second line of a call, when a call is transferred to an interactive voice system, for example, and this system can successfully compensate the fault that a holding noise emerges from the current telephone exchange device. When a call center operator talks with the customer, if the line needs to be transferred to a interactive voice response system but the interactive voice response system cannot pick up the line timely, this system can be used to transfer a call to avoid the customer listening the holding voice or rings of the private branch exchange.
