  • Publication number: 20090153024
Abstract: A white-light emitting device comprises a substrate, a short wavelength light source, a protective layer, a first structure, and a second structure. The short wavelength light source is disposed on the substrate for generating a first light, and the protective layer covering the short wavelength light source is pervious to the first light. The first structure is disposed on the protective layer for generating a second light, in which the first structure includes a first quantum well and a transmission layer. The second structure is disposed on the first structure for generating a third light. Finally, the first light, the second light, and the third light are mixed to generate a white light.

  • Publication number: 20090033204
Abstract: A white light LED is disclosed. The white light LED includes a dual-wavelength chip and an optical thin film. The dual-wavelength chip generates a first wavelength light and a second wavelength light. The optical thin film is disposed above the dual-wavelength chip. The optical thin film can partially be a quantum well thin film. Therefore, the quantum well thin film can be excited by the first wavelength light and/or second wavelength light to generate a third wavelength light. The optical thin film further comprises a plurality of windows to let the first and second wavelength lights pass through. By predetermining a ratio of the quantum well thin film area and the window area that belong to the optical thin film, a lumen ratio of the first, the second, and the third wavelength lights can be adjusted to realize white lights of different color temperatures.

  • Patent number: 7470038
Abstract: A diffuser used in a backlight module including a plurality of light sources is disclosed. The diffuser according to the present invention makes a uniform light output. The diffuser includes a transparent substrate and a plurality of optical structures. The transparent substrate has an entrance surface and an exit surface. The plurality of optical structures is disposed on the exit surface, each optical structure is dented from the exit surface to the interior of the transparent substrate and forms a refractive convex within the transparent substrate, and each refractive convex corresponds to one of the plurality of the light sources. The maximum value of the included angle between the tangent to the refractive convex edge and the normal to the exit surface is smaller than 30 degrees, such that an incident light ray from the light sources refracts and deviates from the normal to the refractive convex through the refractive convex.
