  • Publication number: 20220183062
Abstract: Communications between an access point (AP) of an AP multi-link device (MLD) and a non-AP station (STA) of a STA MLD are established on one or more links of a plurality of links. The non-AP STA receives a frame transmitted by the AP on a first link of the plurality of links. The non-AP STA then either transmits a response to the AP on the first link responsive to receiving the frame from the AP or performs a listening operation on the plurality of links.

  • Patent number: 11310736
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and apparatus for providing wideband channel access to wireless devices, such as 20 MHz only wireless stations. A Target Wakeup Time (TWT) Channel field contains a bitmap indicating a temporary primary channel for using during a TWT Service Period (SP). The temporary primary channel is determined through a negotiation between a requesting STA and a responding STA, and the responding STA assigns resource units (RUs) to the requesting STA according to the temporary primary channel. After the TWT SP, the requesting STA switches back to a primary channel.

  • Publication number: 20220095401
Abstract: A station (STA) affiliated with a multi-link device (MLD) that belongs to a non-simultaneous-transmission-and-reception (NSTR) link pair receives a trigger frame from an access point (AP). The STA determines whether to respond to the trigger frame. In response to determining to respond to the trigger frame, the STA transmits a trigger-based (TB) physical-layer protocol data unit (PPDU) with at least one restriction.

  • Publication number: 20220095167
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide methods and devices for performing admission control in a wireless network. Admission control can be used to set usage limits for wireless devices in the network. When admission control is enabled, a wireless station does not transmit frames if the current channel usage time is greater than a predefined time limit. The admission control parameters can be specific to an access category (AC), such as best effort (BE), voice (VO), video (VI), and background (BK). According to some implementations, the admission control is performed on a link-level. According to other implementations, the admission control is performed at a multi-link device (MLD) level.

  • Publication number: 20220053441
Abstract: Various examples pertaining to extremely-high-throughput (EHT) error recovery in synchronous multiple-frame transmission in wireless communications are described. A multi-link device (MLD) detects a failure related to either or both of a first frame exchange sequence on a first link or a second frame exchange sequence on a second link. In response to the detecting, the MLD adjusts a timing of either or both of a first subsequent transmission on the first link and a second subsequent transmission on the second link to align the first and second subsequent transmissions.

  • Publication number: 20220030450
Abstract: An access point (AP) and a station (STA) communicate with each other, with the AP indicating to the STA either or both of a preamble detection (PD) channel and a signaling (SIG) content channel and with the STA being initially monitoring a primary frequency segment of a plurality of frequency segments in an operating bandwidth of the AP. A downlink (DL) or triggered uplink (UL) communication is performed between the AP and the STA during a transmission opportunity (TXOP) such that: (i) during the TXOP, the STA monitors a preamble on the PD channel and decodes a SIG content on the SIG content channel; and (ii) after an end of the TXOP, the STA switches to the primary frequency segment.

  • Patent number: 11190986
Abstract: Mechanisms of CCA status reporting and NAV distribution for coordinated transmissions in a multi-AP WLAN. A coordinator AP may broadcast a RTS frame to a set of coordinated APs, which allow the coordinated APs with a CCA clear status to set a protected period in a CST frame to silence the associated non-AP STAs. The coordinator AP also polls the coordinated APs to have them individually report their CCA statuses as well as additional information used for transmission coordination. In some embodiments, a status report from a coordinated AP may integrate the protected period setting and the CCA clean status indication, and therefore the coordinator AP just needs to poll for such a report without using RTS/CTS exchange. A coordinated AP may set a protected period to end at the complete transmission of a coordination frame. The coordination frame may specify the remaining TXOP duration information.

  • Publication number: 20210359724
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an apparatus and method for a MAP wireless network that includes a collaborative channel sounding measurement phase to determine channel state information between devices (e.g., the channel state between an STA and a collaborative AP) for efficient configuration of the MAP wireless network and to improve the performance of the MAP wireless networks. The wireless AP and wireless STAs associated with the collaborative APs can simultaneously transmit by applying collaborative beamforming where the interferences between channels nullify each other (e.g., nulling), and the beamforming is performed based on a sounding phase performed by the collaborative APs. The sounding protocol can include a collaborative sounding measurement phase and a collaborative sounding feedback report phase, using Null Data Packets (NDPs), for example, as described herein according to embodiments of the present invention.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide methods and devices for transmitting or receiving beacon frames and probe response frames that include MAC addresses of a multi-link device (MLD) operating on multiple links in a wireless network. For example, the beacon frames and probe response frames can include an MLD MAC address that uniquely identifies an AP MLD in a wireless network, and can optionally include one or more WM MAC addresses of STAs of the AP MLD. The MAC addresses can be used to by wireless devices (e.g., STA MLDs) to connect to and associate with the AP MLD, and can be used to generate a password element used during authentication between wireless devices.
