  • Patent number: 11190986
Abstract: Mechanisms of CCA status reporting and NAV distribution for coordinated transmissions in a multi-AP WLAN. A coordinator AP may broadcast a RTS frame to a set of coordinated APs, which allow the coordinated APs with a CCA clear status to set a protected period in a CST frame to silence the associated non-AP STAs. The coordinator AP also polls the coordinated APs to have them individually report their CCA statuses as well as additional information used for transmission coordination. In some embodiments, a status report from a coordinated AP may integrate the protected period setting and the CCA clean status indication, and therefore the coordinator AP just needs to poll for such a report without using RTS/CTS exchange. A coordinated AP may set a protected period to end at the complete transmission of a coordination frame. The coordination frame may specify the remaining TXOP duration information.

  • Publication number: 20210368322
Abstract: An access point (AP) multi-link device (MLD) and a non-AP station (STA) MLD perform a fast initial link setup (FILS) procedure to establish wireless communications over a plurality of links. The AP MLD and the non-AP STA MLD communicate over one or more links of the plurality of links upon completion of the FILS procedure with a FILS Discovery frame transmitted in the FILS procedure indicating whether a service set identifier (SSID) of the AP MLD is different from a SSID of an AP of a plurality of APs in the AP MLD transmitting the FILS Discovery frame.

  • Publication number: 20210359724
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an apparatus and method for a MAP wireless network that includes a collaborative channel sounding measurement phase to determine channel state information between devices (e.g., the channel state between an STA and a collaborative AP) for efficient configuration of the MAP wireless network and to improve the performance of the MAP wireless networks. The wireless AP and wireless STAs associated with the collaborative APs can simultaneously transmit by applying collaborative beamforming where the interferences between channels nullify each other (e.g., nulling), and the beamforming is performed based on a sounding phase performed by the collaborative APs. The sounding protocol can include a collaborative sounding measurement phase and a collaborative sounding feedback report phase, using Null Data Packets (NDPs), for example, as described herein according to embodiments of the present invention.

Abstract: Communications between an access point (AP) and a non-AP station (STA) are established in a plurality of frequency segments within a basic service set (BSS) bandwidth or on at least a first link and a second link. An extreme-high-throughput (EHT) subchannel selective transmission (SST) operation is performed between the AP and the non-AP STA in the plurality of frequency segments or on the first link and the second link. A trigger-enabled target wake time (TWT) session period (SP) for the EHT SST operation by either indicating one of the plurality of frequency segments as containing a resource unit (RU) allocation addressed to the non-AP STA or indicating one of the first link and the second link on which an operating frequency segment is located during the TWT SP.

  • Publication number: 20210352715
Abstract: A first station (STA) in a non-access point (non-AP) multi-link device (MLD), which has a constraint on simultaneous transmission and reception (TX/RX) on the first link and the second link, receives a Physical Layer Convergence Protocol (PLCP) Protocol Data Unit (PPDU) on a first link or a second link. In response to the PPDU meeting a condition, one or more other STAs of a plurality of STAs in the non-AP MLD are refrained from performing an operation.

  • Publication number: 20210352474
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide methods and devices for transmitting or receiving beacon frames and probe response frames that include MAC addresses of a multi-link device (MLD) operating on multiple links in a wireless network. For example, the beacon frames and probe response frames can include an MLD MAC address that uniquely identifies an AP MLD in a wireless network, and can optionally include one or more WM MAC addresses of STAs of the AP MLD. The MAC addresses can be used to by wireless devices (e.g., STA MLDs) to connect to and associate with the AP MLD, and can be used to generate a password element used during authentication between wireless devices.

  • Patent number: 11153921
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and apparatus for simultaneous transmission and reception of data wirelessly using different wireless bands. The multi-link operations described herein can provide higher network throughput and improved network flexibility compared to traditional techniques to wireless communication. Link management operations such as enabling and disabling of a link may be performed by an AP or STA by sending a frame over a link that is currently active. Moreover, an AP may request a switch to a different link available on the AP side for MLO, for example, when a link is occupied by interference and is not available when AP needs to use the link, and the operating parameters of a target link can be updated.

  • Publication number: 20210321458
Abstract: System and method of using an AP to individually controlling RTS/CTS duration thresholds for multiple STAs in a WLAN. In response to a STA's association request, the AP determines a duration threshold specific to the STA and encloses this information in an association request response for transmission to the STA. By using a broadcast frame, the AP may instruct multiple STAs to uniformly update their stored duration thresholds. For example, if the duration threshold field in the beacon frame is set to 0, the multiple STAs preserve their current duration thresholds; if the field is set to a non-zero value less than 1023, the multiple STAs all update their duration thresholds to the non-zero value; if this field is set to 1023, the multiple STAs disable the RTS/CTS transmissions. Based on a current threshold and pertinent policies, an STA can decide whether to initiate an RTS/CTS transmission sequence.

  • Publication number: 20210314879
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are drawn to methods and electronic devices capable of performing coordinate spatial reuse for wirelessly transmitting data on a channel in coordination with another wireless AP operating an overlapping BSS using the same wireless channel. The device can perform RSSI measurements and generate Per-RU RSSI reports including the RSSI measurements information for transmission to another wireless AP. The RSSI measurement can be performed by the device based on power levels detected when receiving TB PPDUs transmitted by wireless STAs responsive to trigger frames, for example. Based on the Per-RU RSSI report, a wireless AP can be configured to transmit data to an associated wireless STA without causing significant interference when another AP of the overlapping BSS is also transmitting, and can schedule frames for transmission from associated wireless STAs accordingly.

  • Patent number: 11134518
Abstract: A cooperative multi-band wireless station architecture that enables full duplex operations of wireless stations (STAs). Such an STA includes a WIFI transceiver and one or more additional transceivers. The two transceivers (and the associated channels) operate in mutually exclusive WIFI bands or different types of protocols and therefore can transmit and/or receive simultaneously without signal interference to each other. The multiple transceivers can perform independent clear channel assessment (CCA) and then simultaneously perform signal transmission or reception jointly or independently. In a cooperative multi-band operation, one channel may be used as an independent assistant channel and responsible for supplying assistant information relevant to a transmission opportunity (TXOP) for the other channel (primary channel) to take corresponding actions.

  • Publication number: 20210266964
Abstract: A device obtains a transmission opportunity (TXOP) in a wideband operating bandwidth comprising a primary channel and a plurality of non-primary channels. The device initiates a frame exchange to reserve the TXOP for TXOP sharing. The device also performs a data transmission within the TXOP on one or more of the plurality of non-primary channels. The device then shares the primary channel with a basic service set (BSS) after the frame exchange.
