  • Publication number: 20080168848
Abstract: A cement sample testing apparatus including a first pressure zone; a second pressure zone; and a pressure control system. The pressure control system can be in fluid communication with the first pressure zone and the second pressure zone, operable to raise the first pressure zone to a first pressure above ambient pressure, and operable to raise the second pressure zone to a second pressure above ambient pressure. A method for determining mechanical properties for a sample cement composition can include applying a first pressure condition to a first portion of the sample cement composition; applying a second pressure condition raised to a second portion of the sample cement composition; and determining one or more mechanical properties of the sample cement composition based at least in part on the pressure conditions present at the failure of the sample cement composition.

  • Publication number: 20080144977
Abstract: A method and system for recognizing text in computer images comprising distorted text provides an adaptive iterative process wherein recognition rules are adapted, added or omitted based on the present state of the recognition process. When the first pass through the recognition and adaptation is completed, the remaining unrecognized words (15) are passed through the recognition system 1 using the modified set of recognition rules stored in (18) and the process is repeated. In most cases the recognition system 1 will identify further reliable recognized words, which iteratively can be used to improve the recognition rules until the true text comprised in image (10) is recognized throughout the whole text. The steps of the method according to the present invention are thus repeated until convergence.

  • Publication number: 20080140870
Abstract: A method is disclosed for configuring field devices in a process automation system in which the field devices are connected to other automation components via a field bus. In order to minimize the load on the field bus, the actual configuration of each field device is stored as a copy in a configuration tool, and each change in the configuration initiated on the field device is stored with an unambiguous, structured version ID. In order to update the configuration data and parameter data in the configuration tool, the version ID is transferred into the configuration tool, and the difference between the copy stored in the configuration tool and the new configuration is determined from the structure of said version ID. The difference is retrieved from the respective field device in order to update the configuration data and parameter data in the configuration tool.

  • Patent number: 7029339
Abstract: A shock-proof electric marine engine, e.g. an engine or generator, is for a marine (Navy) ship, and includes a stator and a rotor in a housing. The stator and the rotor are connected in such a way that they are rotatably displaceable in a counter direction and in a radial/axial manner with limited slack. The rotor and stator form a displaceable unit in relation to the housing, which can be displaced away from the housing with a higher vibration overshoot range. The housing is elastically connected to the marine (navy) ship.

  • Publication number: 20040248534
Abstract: A radio receiver having selection elements for selecting a radio program to be received and program memories storing information required for setting a radio program to be received is provided. The program memories are assigned to the respective selection elements, and a desired program memory may be called up by operating a desired selection element assigned to the desired program memory, independently of the broadcast method (e.g., analog VHF FM radio, analog MW, LW, SW AM radio, DAB, or DRM) of a program received prior to operation of the selection element. In this manner, the present invention enables the user's preferred radio programs to be distributed on the same station button level, e.g., on a first of several station button levels, to the station buttons available on this level, independently of the broadcast method of the preferred radio programs. As a result, the preferred radio programs may be called up independently of their broadcast method simply by operating one station button, i.e.
