Patent number: 6583532Abstract: In a rotating electrical machine having a permanent-magnet rotor, the tubular, highly thermally conductive supporting body of the stator forms a thermal bridge to a cooling means. In order to allow the end windings of the stator windings to be cooled effectively as well, the end windings also each have an associated thermal bridge, which completely fills the space between the end windings and the supporting body of the stator. This thermal bridge is of solid construction having a solid ring, which is connected to the supporting body of the stator with a force fit, and a cast-resin body which is cast into this solid ring. The cast-resin body has a thermal conductivity of more than 1.6 W/mK and, for this purpose, contains a powdery, highly thermally conductive filler making up a proportion of 50 to 90% by weight, preferably an aluminum nitride coated with silicon dioxide.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2001Date of Patent: June 24, 2003Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Peter Hein, Juergen Huber, Juergen Lange, Christian Meyer, Wolfgang Rogler, Ingo Schuering

Patent number: 5838142Abstract: The charging voltage U.sub.L of the battery being charged is sensed and amplified by an amplification factor. The amplification factor is determined by the sensed charging voltage. This provides automatic scaling of the charging voltage. The amplification factor K can be repetitively or continuously adjusted during battery charging. The time behavior of the input signal is monitored. The monitoring unit determines whether the time behavior of the input signal fulfills predetermined or given criteria. When a criterion is met, a check-result signal is generated, which controls charging, for example, by stopping charging when the time behavior indicates charging is completed. Time behavior is monitored by monitoring a second order time derivative of the input signal. The monitoring unit performs optimally within a certain magnitude range. Therefore, the amplification factor is adjusted to set the input signal at a magnitude within that range.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1997Date of Patent: November 17, 1998Assignee: Impex Patrick WyssInventors: Patrick Wyss, Anton Fessler, Christian Meyer

Patent number: 5455992Abstract: A widening device for increasing the width of a moving web of material comprises a rotatable profiled roller, the outer surface of which defines a plurality of radial projections and recesses distributed along the length of the roller and first and second co-operating rollers rotatable at the same speed as the profiled roller. The first and second co-operating rollers define projections and recesses complementary to those of profiled roller and define first and second treatment nips which serve to increase the width of a web of material passed therethrough. The projections on the co-operating roller defining the second treatment nip extend more deeply into the recesses of the profiled roller than do the projections on the co-operating roller which defines the first treatment nip so that the web of material is stretched gradually over two stages with the stretching effect being uniform across the entire width of the web.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1994Date of Patent: October 10, 1995Assignee: Eduard Kusters Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co.
