  • Publication number: 20140029586
Abstract: The invention relates to methods for reporting on downlink timings by a mobile terminal in a mobile communication system. In order to allow for an aggregation access point to obtain information on propagation delay differences of downlink transmissions on aggregated serving cells, the invention suggests the mobile terminal to report timing information based on reception time difference information for a the target/reference cell. The mobile terminal performs measurements relating to transmission and/or reception time differences on the target/reference cell, and reports same to the eNodeB. The eNodeB compares the measurement result to a predefined maximum propagation delay time difference. Alternatively, the mobile terminal performs the measurements, compares same to the predefined maximum propagation delay time difference and then report the comparison result to the eNodeB.

  • Patent number: 8638741
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for determining a retransmission mode of a retransmission protocol for data transmissions provided to a communication terminal. Furthermore, the invention relates to the operation of the communication terminal, e.g. a user equipment or relay node, to perform such method, as well as a Node B cooperating with the communication terminal. The invention is inter alia applicable to a 3GPP LTE-A system as standardized by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). In order to suggest a mechanism for determining or dynamically configuring a retransmission mode of a retransmission protocol, the invention suggests a control message format that allows a dynamic signaling of the retransmission mode of a retransmission protocol. The control message is designed to comprise a field that can indicate a plurality of different codepoints. The codepoints are divided into at least two subsets, wherein the codepoints of each subset indicate a respective retransmission mode.

  • Publication number: 20140023010
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transmitting power headroom information from a user equipment to the base station. The transmission is made dependent on scheduling type of the uplink resource, for which the power headroom information is to be calculated and over which it is to be transmitted. If the uplink resource is dynamically scheduled, then the extended power headroom report according to Rel. 10 is transmitted; if it is scheduled persistently, e.g. as part of a semi-persistent scheduling configuration, then a basic power headroom report according to Rel. 8/9 is transmitted. The invention circumvents the problem of delaying data in persistently allocated uplink resources when transmitting an extended power headroom report.

  • Publication number: 20130343261
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for dynamically controlling the PUSCH of a SCell in a backhaul link of a communication system utilizing a relay node with carrier aggregation, where the SCell is inband with respect to the access link between the relay node and the UEs. In order to avoid subframe blocking due to inband operation, the PUSCH of an SCell may be deactivated. The new downlink-only configuration of the SCell allows the relay node to use all resources of the SCell for scheduling resources for uplink and downlink transmissions in the access link. The PUSCH may deactivated and activated e.g. depending on the need for higher data rates in the uplink and downlink of the access link between the relay node and the UEs. The decision to deactivate/activate the PUSCH of an SCell may be taken by the DeNB or the relay node.

  • Publication number: 20130250906
Abstract: The present invention relates to providing control information within a search space for blind decoding in a multi-carrier communication system. In particular, the control information is carried within a sub-frame of the communication system, the sub-frame including a plurality of control channel elements. The control channel elements may be aggregated into candidates for blind decoding. The number of control channel elements in a candidate is called aggregation level. In accordance with the present invention, the candidates of lower aggregation levels are localised, meaning that the control channel elements of one candidate are located adjacently to each other in the frequency domain. Some candidates of the higher aggregation level(s) are distributed in the frequency.

  • Publication number: 20130223402
Abstract: The invention relates to a new structure of a control channel region within a sub-frame of a 3GPP-based based communication system using OFDM in the downlink. This new structure of a control channel region is inter alia particularly suitable for conveying physical downlink control channel information from a donor eNodeB to a relay node. The control channel region is divided in CCEs that have equal size irrespective of the presence of further cell-specific and/or UE-specific reference signals within the control channel region. This is achieved by dividing the control channel region in plural sub-CCEs that are combined to CCEs all having equal size (in terms of resource elements that can be used for the signaling of control information).

  • Publication number: 20130182654
Abstract: This invention relates to methods for transmitting and receiving transmit power control commands from a base station to a group of mobile terminals in a OFDM based mobile communication system using component carrier aggregation of plural component carriers. Furthermore, the invention also relates to an implementation of these methods in hardware and software. The invention suggests an efficient scheme for signaling transmit power control commands. In one signaling format multiple TPC commands are sent for the uplink component carriers of a mobile terminal in one TPC message. In another signaling format, the TPC commands for the mobile terminal are signaled in respective TPC messages. A further aspect of the invention is the reduction of signaling overhead by signaling carrier group TPC commands that control the transmit power of a group of component carriers. Similarly, an all carrier TPC command is provided to control the transmit power on all uplink component carriers of a mobile terminal.

  • Patent number: 8489953
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for receiving data units when using one HARQ process of an HARQ protocol. The memory associated to the HARQ process is divided into several sub-areas, which are addressable by an identifier. Then, when data is received, same is stored in one of the sub-areas. By providing more than one sub-area for one HARQ process, it is possible to actually use one HARQ process for two (or more) different received data units, being from the same data flow or from a different data flow. The actual sub-area of the HARQ process for storing data units can be either freely selected at the receiving end or is indicated by an identifier associated with the data. Furthermore, persistent scheduled data is transmitted in units, scheduled at fixed time intervals. Thus, a control signaling field, usually used for indicating new units, can be used to store the identifier.
