Abstract: An image recording/reproducing apparatus and a control method thereof to provide the functions of recording image files in a recording medium and reproducing and editing the image files recorded in the recording medium. The apparatus and method enables a user to easily select and manipulate functions of the apparatus using a menu display, and can record, reproduce and edit the image files according to the function selected by the user. The apparatus and method, therefore allows the user to easily select and manipulate the functions using a displayed menu, and more efficiently manage and easily search for the recorded image files.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a new use of inhibitors of leukotriene B4 receptor BLT2 for treating human cancers. More particularly, the present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for treating human cancers comprising BLT2 inhibitors and a method for treating human cancers using BLT2 inhibitors. The present inventors revealed the role of BLT2 as a survival factor of human cancers, such as bladder, prostate, pancreatic, and breast cancer and found that the BLT2 inhibitors can be used as anti-cancer drugs. The present inventors revealed that BLT2 has an important role in metastasis of cancer cells and angiogenesis of tumor and demonstrated that the anti-cancer activity of the BLT2 inhibitors is accomplished by inducing the apoptosis of cancer cells, inhibiting the metastasis of cancer cells, or inhibiting the angiogenesis of tumor.

The digital broadcast receiver includes a signal reception unit, which receives a broadcast signal and converts the received broadcast signal into an intermediate frequency (IF) signal, a digital demodulation unit, which retrieves a transport stream from the IF signal, a demultiplexing unit, which extracts a video signal from the transport stream by parsing the transport stream, a video decoder, which retrieves a video image from the video signal by decoding the video signal, and an output selection unit, which prevents a background image from being output and outputs the video image when sensing a first intra frame of the video signal input to the video decoder after the digital broadcast receiver is switched to a new channel.

The tuner block has a casing for accommodating a tuner, the IF/demodulator circuit and the modulator, and sixteen pins consecutively disposed at an outside of the casing. A number of the pins is reduced as compared with a conventional tuner block by supplying an electrical power to the modulator and the tuner through a common pin, dispensing with pins carrying unnecessary signals and pins which carry no signal and rearranging other pins. Potential for noise and interference between signals is reduced by maximizing displacements of connector pins which carry signals which are likely to interact. A switching arrangement provides for utilizing either a conventional tuner block or a tuner block according to the present invention on a circuit board.

Abstract: An apparatus for producing an optical fiber preform to perform the deposition process by modified chemical vapor deposition. The Apparatus comprises a main heat source location sensor (800) for detecting the location of a main heat source for heating a substrate tube 100, an additional supporting device control part (1000) wiredly or wirelessly connected to the main heat source location sensor (800), and an additional supporting device (1100) wiredly or wirelessly connected to the additional supporting device control part (1000) for supporting the substrate tube (100). The present invention reduces the effective length of the substrate tube (100) by additionally supporting the substrate tube (100), thereby minimizing the deflection of the substrate tube (100). Particularly, it is possible to considerably reduce the deflection of the substrate tube at its initial part and thus to achieve a high deposition efficiency. Accordingly, it is possible to mass-produce an optical fiber preform of high quality.

Abstract: A method for monitoring a spin imparted on an optical fiber in order to reduce Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD) includes the steps of imparting a spin on a high-temperature optical fiber which is drawn from a preform, photographing a dispersion pattern peculiar to the spun optical fiber with a camera from scattered light naturally generated by the spin imparted on the optical fiber, and displaying the photographed dispersion pattern. The method enables monitoring of rate and period of the spin imparted on the optical fiber on the basis of the displayed dispersion pattern.

Abstract: In a method for designing an envelope detecting circuit for a video signal processing integrated circuit (IC), the number of peripheral components of the video signal processing IC is minimized by incorporating, into the video signal processing IC, a circuit device for detecting the envelope of an FM video signal and for controlling the envelope level. According to the IC designing method, the number of components can be reduced by designing all circuit elements constituting a circuit which detects the envelope of the FM video signal and which controls envelope level so that they are incorporated into the video signal processing IC at the time of designing the video signal processing IC. As a result, cost is reduced and, since mode control signal lines are reduced, the corresponding terminals of the microprocessor can be used for another purpose, thereby increasing the operating efficiency of the microprocessor.

Abstract: A video signal processing apparatus and a design method therefor are provided, and more particularly, a design method for a video signal processing integrated circuit (IC), in which to solve the shortage of pin ports caused by designing a video signal processor in a single IC, a vertical synchronization signal is output and a quasi synchronization signal is input through a single pin port, and an IC and a video signal processing apparatus thereby are provided. According to the design method, by designing a vertical synchronization dividing circuit inside an IC without increasing the number of pins in a video signal processing IC, the present invention can reduce the number of components, material costs, and save the PCB space. In addition, by integrating the vertical synchronization dividing circuit inside an IC, the component difference of a discrete device can be reduced, which enhances IC performance.

Abstract: Outernet DNS searching units are included in a host, a DNS server, a router where a DNS server is registered, and a router where a DNS server is not registered, allowing Internet-enabled terminals to automatically search for a DNS server in an outernet. The host creates a DNS search message and transmits it to a subnet to which the host belongs so as to receive a response message. If no response message is received from the subnet (i.e., a DNS server is not connected to the subnet), the DNS search message is transmitted to an outernet to which the host does not belong, to which a DNS server is connected. Further, when a DNS server does not respond to a DNS search message from a host, a hop limit is increased to resend the DNS search message, thereby preventing waste of network bandwidth and easily detecting the closest DNS server.

Abstract: In a de-emphasis circuit designing method for minimizing the number of peripheral components of a video signal processing integrated circuit (IC), a circuit device for determining the level of a reproduced video signal of the de-emphasis circuit is included in the video signal processing IC. The number of components is reduced by designing all circuit elements of the circuit device for determining the level of the reproduced video signal of the de-emphasis circuit so that they are incorporated into the video signal processing IC at the time of design of the video signal processing IC, thereby reducing cost and reducing any deviation in the playback (PB) level due to external component deviation.

Abstract: An apparatus and method update a program code of an electronic device, such as an optical disk drive, using a Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) interface. The apparatus receives SATA signals from the SATA interface and generates flash memory driving signals based on a register host-to-device FIS received from a host computer system.
