    Abstract: A tuner block in which a modulator and an IF/demodulator circuit are integrally formed. The tuner block has a casing for accommodating a tuner, the IF/demodulator circuit and the modulator, and sixteen pins consecutively disposed at an outside of the casing. A number of the pins is reduced as compared with a conventional tuner block by supplying an electrical power to the modulator and the tuner through a common pin, dispensing with pins carrying unnecessary signals and pins which carry no signal and rearranging other pins. Potential for noise and interference between signals is reduced by maximizing displacements of connector pins which carry signals which are likely to interact. A switching arrangement provides for utilizing either a conventional tuner block or a tuner block according to the present invention on a circuit board.

    Abstract: A frequency modulation (FM) recording apparatus for recording an FM modulated video signal onto a recording medium is provided. This recording apparatus (luminance components plus color components) includes an automatic gain controller; a limiter for limiting the level of a luminance component output from the automatic gain controller; a recording equalizer for equalizing the output from the limiter in accordance with the characteristics of the recording medium; a color low-pass filter for filtering and transmitting a color FM signal in an FM modulated video signal output from the automatic gain controller; and a mixer for mixing the luminance component output from the recording equalizer with the color component output from the color low-pass filter. The FM recording apparatus adopts an automatic gain controller for correcting an imbalance in the levels of playback FM signals between channels, and enabling FM recording with superior image.

In addition, when the apparatus and method are applied to a dual deck VCR, FM copying can be controlled depending on whether a macrovision signal exists on the basis of the beginning date on which the aggressive protection of copyright becomes effective.

    Abstract: Outernet DNS searching units are included in a host, a DNS server, a router where a DNS server is registered, and a router where a DNS server is not registered, allowing Internet-enabled terminals to automatically search for a DNS server in an outernet. The host creates a DNS search message and transmits it to a subnet to which the host belongs so as to receive a response message. If no response message is received from the subnet (i.e., a DNS server is not connected to the subnet), the DNS search message is transmitted to an outernet to which the host does not belong, to which a DNS server is connected.
