  • Patent number: 8644233
Abstract: A terminal transmits control information to a base station by using a periodically allocated dedicated channel. In further detail, the terminal checks control information that needs to be transmitted, detects a priority of the checked control information, and selects control information to be transmitted to the base station based on the detected priority. The terminal forms a PDU by multiplexing the selected control information, and transmits the PDU to the base station.

  • Patent number: 8630257
Abstract: The present invention relates to a handover method of a mobile station in a wireless communication system, and a base station and a mobile station for the same. A list of neighboring base stations that can accept a handover of a mobile station is shared by the mobile station and a serving base station before the mobile station performs the handover so as to reduce handover delay time in a high speed environment through addition, the active base station set managed by the mobile station and the serving base station can be managed with consideration of radio signal quality and resource state of each of the neighboring base stations included in the active base station set, and thus when the mobile station attempts a network re-entry process to a target base station that is not ready for the handover of the mobile station due to a loss of a handover control message, a handover failure due to a lack of radio resources can be prevented, thereby increasing a handover success rate.

  • Patent number: 8615218
Abstract: Disclosed are a method for requesting, generating and distributing a service-specific traffic encryption key in a wireless portable Internet system, an apparatus for the same, and a protocol configuration method for the same. In the present invention, a subscriber station sends a Key Request message for requesting a service-specific traffic encryption key to the base station using a PKM-REQ MAC message, and a base station analyzes the Key Request message to generate the requested service-specific traffic encryption key. Subsequently, the base station sends a Key Reply message, including the generated service-specific traffic encryption key, to the subscriber station using a PKM-RSP MAC message. If the base station fails to generate the key, the base station sends a Key Reject message, including a reason for the failure, to the subscriber station.

  • Patent number: 8588145
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for allocating and accessing downlink resources in the OFDMA communication system. In the resource allocation method, bursts having the same modulation and channel encoding level are arranged in a predetermined temporal order on a physical layer. Information on the allocated unit resources is included in a common control block and is transmitted to a subscriber station, and the subscriber station then detects a number of the allocated unit resources to thus check the range of bursts to be received by the subscriber station. Therefore, power consumption by the subscriber station is reduced and signaling overheads of the common control information and unneeded residual resources are decreased.

  • Patent number: 8559360
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling power for uplink are provided. When a base station is moving or unable to communicate with others, at least one interference amount is estimated for a neighboring base station based on a path gain between a terminal and the neighboring base station and a transmission power of each encoding packet size and transmission format included in a candidate group related to scheduling transmission power parameters. A target interference amount is determined based on an interference amount control value and an initial target interference amount according to a processing load of a serving base station, and one interference amount is selected from estimated interference amounts based on the target interference amount. The terminal determines the transmission power based on an encoding packet size and a transmission format corresponding to the selected interference amount.
