  • Publication number: 20130077655
Abstract: A communication device is disclosed, having a transceiving circuit, a timer circuit, and a control circuit. The transceiving circuit is used to transceive frequency hopping signals according to at least part of good channels in a channel map. The timer circuit is used to calculate a timespan of one or more communication intervals in which the transceiving circuit transceives the frequency hopping signals. The control circuit is used to compare the timespan with a time threshold to determine whether signal transmission tests with one or more bad channels in the channel map should be performed to update the channel map.

  • Publication number: 20080268924
Abstract: A cellular phone to be investigated is placed within an RF shielding bag that is formed with conductive materials. A computer transmits investigation commands to a data acquisition device to obtain data stored in the cellular phone. An RF emitter also placed within the RF shielding bag is coupled between the data acquisition device and the cellular phone. At least a portion of a signal line connecting the data acquisition device to the RF emitter is outside the RF shielding bag and may act as an antenna that transmits unwanted RF signals to the cellular phone. The RF emitter corrupts such incoming RF signals not shielded by the RF shielding bag. This helps ensure a forensic sound investigation of the cellular phone.

  • Publication number: 20080016571
Abstract: A system and method is provided for detecting operating system compromises due to inconspicuous rootkit installations. A rootkit detection module identifies hidden processes running on top of the operating system. Processes operating in an uncompromised environment expose their process identifiers (PIDs) to the operating system. Thus, if a hidden process is discovered, this is an indication that a rootkit program may have compromised the operating system. The rootkit detection mechanism according embodiments of the present invention detect hidden processes by identifying a range of all possible PIDs and identifying PIDs that are not being reported by the operating system. Specifically, the rootkit detection mechanism according to one embodiment of the invention tests each PID in the range via lower level function calls that do not rely on published operating system APIs, and examines the memory location referenced by the PID for determining if a hidden process exists.
