  • Publication number: 20160258798
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for measuring liquid fuel flows within a conduit are disclosed. An example flow sensor may include a conduit arranged to flow fuel therethrough along a flow axis, the conduit defining a flow area orthogonal to the flow axis. The flow sensor may further include a first transducer arranged to direct a first signal through the conduit proximate the flow area to a second transducer, the second transducer being arranged to direct a second signal through the conduit proximate the flow area to the first transducer, the first transducer being spaced apart from the second transducer by a signal path length, and in a direction parallel to the flow axis by an axial distance. The fuel flow measuring system may further include a processor arranged to calculate a fuel mass flow rate based on first and second signal transit times, known fuel properties and a fuel temperature.

  • Publication number: 20160257908
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of producing fatty acid alkyl esters from a lipid, comprising steps of introducing a gas comprising vapor of an alcohol selected from methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, iso-propanol and butanols, into the lipid in a form of bubbles to enable the bubbles to pass through the lipid and be discharged from the lipid. The product may then be subjected to a transesterification process catalyzed by a base catalyst. The present invention is robust with low quality feedstocks thus significantly reduce production cost for biodiesel.

  • Patent number: 9424414
Abstract: Online retailers may operate one or more services configured to detect requests generated by automated agents. A CAPTCHA may be transmitted in response to requests generated by automated agents. The CAPTCHAs may be included in a modal pop-up box configured to be displayed by a client application displaying a webpage to a customer of the online retailer. Furthermore, the CAPTCHAs included in the modal pop-up box may be rendered inactive and caused not to be displayed by client application executing the webpage. Rendering the CAPTCHAs inactive may provide an additional signal which may be sued to update one or more automated agent detection models.

  • Patent number: 9361446
Abstract: Service providers may operate one or more services configured to detect requests generated by automated agents. A CAPTCHA may be transmitted in response to requests generated by automated agents. The CAPTCHAs may be included in a modal pop-up box configured to be displayed by a client application displaying a webpage to a customer of the service provider. Furthermore, the CAPTCHAs included in the modal pop-up box may be rendered inactive and caused not to be displayed by client application executing the webpage. Submitted solutions to CAPTCHAs may be presented with a cookie that enables access to resources of the service provider without restriction. Cookies may be tracked and their use may be used to detect automated agent activity.

  • Patent number: 9329847
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for implementing a programmable chip using a high-level language. Code sequences such as high-level language software critical loops are converted into read/transform/write (RXW) processes with buffer based flow control between the processes. Having separate read and write processes allows an arbitrary number of sequential reads/writes to occur in any order, subject to buffer size, allowing bursting/sequential transactions that are more efficient than random accesses.

  • Patent number: 9297679
Abstract: Flowmeters are disclosed herein that include one or more flow path features for improving the measurement accuracy or other aspects of the flowmeter. A flowmeter can include an elongate body having a first end and a second end and a flow path extending between the first and second ends along a longitudinal axis. An ultrasonic transducer can be disposed in a measurement section of the flow path and configured to emit ultrasonic waves into a material flowing through the flow path. First and second protrusions can be formed in a conditioning section of the flow path upstream from the measurement section, the first and second protrusions extending radially inward from a sidewall of the flow path and being configured to reduce swirling flow through the measurement section.

  • Patent number: 9202166
Abstract: A system for machine cognition includes Kanban cells (KC), Kanban cell neurons (KCN), and Kanban cell neuron networks (KCNN). The KC is an asynchronous AND-OR gate without feedback that is self-timing by the input data to process until input is equal to output. Input is a four-valued logic (4VL) based on the set {contradiction, true, false, tautology} of four-valued bit code (4vbc) where contradiction is equivalent to null. Access to a sparsely filled look up table (LUT) is minimized in hardware with a 2-bit value per logical signal.

  • Publication number: 20150198472
Abstract: Flowmeters are disclosed herein that include one or more flow path features for improving the measurement accuracy or other aspects of the flowmeter. In some embodiments, the flowmeter includes a measurement section having a non-circular transverse cross-section in which one or more sensors for measuring flow are disposed. The non-circular measurement section can reduce distortion of ultrasonic waves, facilitate chordal measurements with flush-mounted transducers, and reduce the propagation distance between paired transducers. In some embodiments, the flowmeter includes a conditioning section with diametrically opposed longitudinal rib protrusions. The protrusions can reduce swirling flow, direct liquid components of a multi-phase flow towards the sidewalls of the flow path, and guide ballistic particles through the center of the flow path away from sensitive measurement devices.
