  • Patent number: 10459982
Abstract: A system, method, computer program product and computer program for evaluating links between objects are provided. A receive ontology component receives an ontology and an identify component identifies, from the ontology, semantic feature types within the ontology that can be used to measure the links between the objects. A data receive component receives instance information and maps the instance information into an ontological form of the instance information. An analyze component analyzes the ontological form to generate an ontological mapping of the instance information. A match component analyzes the mapping to identify matches with semantic patterns. A strength component analyzes the associated semantic features associated with the objects of the matches to determine weightings for the links of the matches. An alert component provides the links and associated weightings.

  • Publication number: 20190325347
Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for training and operating a Question and Answer (QA) system pipeline. A corpus of information is received which comprises historical data to which one or more filter criteria are applied to extract filtered historical data relevant to a training objective for training the QA system pipeline. Attribute data, action data, and temporal characteristic data are captured from the filtered historical data. An answer key entry is automatically generated in an automatically generated training answer key data structure based on the attribute data, action data, and temporal characteristic data. The correct answer associated with the answer key entry is an action specified by the action data. The temporal characteristic data provides a historical context for the answer key entry. The QA system pipeline is trained using the automatically generated training answer key data structure.

  • Publication number: 20190318810
Abstract: A computer system utilizes a dataset to support a research study. One or more regions of interestingness are determined within a model of a first set of data records that are authorized for the research study by associated entities. A second set of data records is represented within the model, wherein the second set of data records are relevant for supporting objectives of the research study after de-identification. Records from the second dataset that are particularly useful for supporting objectives of the research study are identified, and authorization is requested from the corresponding entities of the identified data records from the second set of data records. After receiving authorization, those records are included with the first set to generate a resulting dataset. Embodiments of the present invention further include a method and program product for processing requests for health information in substantially the same manner described above.

  • Publication number: 20190318269
Abstract: Provided are a computer program product, system, and method for classifying text to determine a goal type used to select machine learning algorithm outcomes. Natural language processing of text is performed to determine features in the text and their relationships. A classifier classifies the text based on the relationships and features to determine a goal type. The determined features and relationships from the text are inputted into a plurality of different machine learning algorithms to generate outcomes. For each of the machine learning algorithms, a determination is made of performance measurements resulting from the machine learning algorithms generating the outcomes. A determination is made of at least one machine learning algorithm having performance measurements that are highly correlated to the determined goal type. An outcome is determined from at least one of the outcomes.

  • Patent number: 10437835
Abstract: Systems and computer program products to, responsive to receiving a case by a deep question answering (deep QA) system, identify, in a corpus of information, a first variable for which a value was not specified in the case, compute an importance score for the first variable based on a concept in the corpus, wherein the concept is associated with the first variable, and upon determining that the importance score exceeds an importance threshold, determine that specifying a value for the first variable increases a confidence score of a response returned by the deep QA system beyond a confidence threshold.

  • Patent number: 10430508
Abstract: A method, system and computer-usable medium are disclosed for analyzing and deducing criteria-related content for evaluation in a system capable of answering questions. A criteria text is processed to identify criteria. The criteria text is then analyzed to identify a set of criteria-related content associated with the criteria, which in turn is processed to determine its relationship to the criteria. Once the relationship has been determined, the set of criteria-related content is annotated accordingly. The set of criteria-related content is then used in accordance with its annotation when processing the criteria for evaluation.

  • Patent number: 10430713
Abstract: A mechanism is provided in a data processing system for predicting and enhancing ingestion time for a set of input documents. The mechanism receives a set of documents to be added to a corpus of the data processing system. The mechanism records document features of each document within the set of documents using an annotation engine within the data processing system. The mechanism predicts an ingestion time for each document within the set of documents based on the document characteristics and a machine learning model. The mechanism assigns the set of documents to data processing system resources to be processed based on the predicted ingestion time for each document.

  • Patent number: 10425493
Abstract: An approach is described for adjusting prominence of a participant profile in a social networking interface. An associated method may include receiving an activity stream update of the participant and calculating a relevancy score based on content in the activity stream update. The method further may include adjusting a visibility level of the participant profile in the social networking interface based upon the calculated relevancy score. Adjusting the visibility level may include increasing the visibility level of the participant profile upon determining that the calculated relevancy score is greater than or equal to a first predefined threshold value. Adjusting the visibility level further may include decreasing the visibility level of the participant profile upon determining that the calculated relevancy score is less than a second predefined threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20190286688
Abstract: Based on natural language processing of a passage of a first electronic document, a determination is made that the passage indicates an action to be undertaken. In response to this determination and based on an analysis of a second electronic document, the second electronic document is identified as incorporating content preconfigured to allow completion of the action. In response to this identification, the passage is linked to the second electronic document.

  • Patent number: 10417285
Abstract: The present disclosure provides an approach in which a domain corpus subset generator correlates documents from a document corpus to domain discernible attributes associated with domain corpus subsets. The domain corpus subset generator analyzes correlation results from the correlation and stores the documents into domain corpus subsets accordingly. In turn, a question-answer system utilizes documents included in a specific domain corpus subset to provide relevant and accurate answers to an input question.

  • Publication number: 20190258659
Abstract: Embodiments relate to a system, program product, and method for use with an intelligent computer platform to decipher analogical phrases. The method identifies A category is identified and a list of definitions is created for each parsed subcomponent of the phrase. The definitions are ranked in the list based on their relevance to the identified category and an outcome is identified based on the ranked relevance. A corpus is searched for evidence of an analogical pattern associated with the ranked list and each entry in the ranked list is scored based on congruence with the analogical pattern. An outcome is generated based on the scoring and is representative of the definition with the strongest congruence to the analogical pattern.
