  • Patent number: 9867565
Abstract: A method for testing a subject to detect a reduction in cerebral function presumably resulting from mild traumatic brain injury, that affects visual, proprioceptive, and vestibular brain functions includes: providing a user interface, input device, and portable computer into the hands of the test subject suspected of having mild traumatic brain injury; providing an icon on the user interface visible to the subject; rotating the subject holding the computer a predetermined number of revolutions, at a predetermined rate of rotation, to engage the vestibular system of the subject prior to testing; aligning, by the subject, the icon on the screen of the user interface in alignment with a test administrator; maintaining the alignment of the icon on the screen and the test administrator throughout the rotations; and conducting a real-time test for mild traumatic brain injury utilizing the user interface, the user input device, and the associated computer.

  • Patent number: 9836271
Abstract: A method and system for streaming a soundtrack from a server to a remote user device for a reader of electronic media content. The soundtrack is defined by multiple audio regions. Each audio region defined by an audio track for playback in the audio region, a start position in the electronic media content corresponding to where the playback of the audio region is to begin, and a stop position in the electronic media content corresponding to where the playback of the audio region is to cease. The streaming of the soundtrack is based on control data generated by the remote user device.

  • Publication number: 20170333566
Abstract: Described herein are semisynthetic biopolymers comprising: a plurality of polyalkylene glycol chains, a protein, and an antioxidant; wherein the polyalkylene glycol chains are conjugated to the protein through a substituted succinimide linker. In some embodiments, the compounds described herein are conjugated proteins referred to as “semisynthetic supra perfusion agents”, “semisynthetic hybrid biopolymers”, “semisynthetic supra plasma expanders”, or the like. In some embodiments, these compounds mimic the same physiological consequences of high viscosity supra plasma expanders without being highly viscous—i.e. having a viscosity greater than blood.

  • Patent number: 9784224
Abstract: A valve assembly for an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system which provides emission control, regulates flow of exhaust gases, and is suitable for gasoline or diesel applications. The EGR valve assembly is a latching valve assembly which reduces power consumption (i.e., continuous electric draw) from the battery while the valve is either being held open or closed, and reduces electrical interference inherent with integrated position sensors. The valve assembly includes a latching mechanism controlled by an actuator which allows a valve to latch open or closed. The valve may be a single stage valve or a multi-stage valve, which includes a latching mechanism that allows for intermediate open positions, and uses of only a short, single pulse of voltage, to change the state of the valve. The actuator may also be held energized at full extend, maintaining a maximum valve open position, creating additional flow capability of the valve assembly.

  • Patent number: 9657656
Abstract: A linear actuator includes a stator assembly and a rotor assembly operatively associated with the stator assembly and mounted for rotation with respect to the stator assembly. A shaft is restricted from rotation and is associated with the rotor assembly such that rotation of the rotor assembly causes linear movement of the shaft. A capnut is associated with a distal end of the shaft for movement therewith. A shroud is coupled to the stator assembly and substantially surrounds the capnut. The shroud includes a valve seat, and an inlet communicating with an outlet through a throttle opening adjacent to the valve seat. The shaft and associated capnut are constructed and arranged to move relative to the valve seat to control air flow between the inlet and the outlet.

  • Patent number: 9604115
Abstract: A device suitable for providing a workout for surfers and as a general exercise device includes a platform on which a user may kneel, sit, lie, or stand. The platform is mounted on a support frame including legs for supporting the top of the frame above ground level. A rod is mounted on the support frame and extends away from the platform. At least one resistance and a handle are provided on the rod, which can be grasped by a user and pulled against the resistance. The platform is mounted on the support frame by a mounting which allows the platform to tilt, particularly laterally from side to side about an axis which is parallel or co-axial to the axis of the rod. The mounting is adjustable to allow the degree of instability of the platform to be adjusted.
