  • Patent number: 9207195
Abstract: The application discloses systems and methods for X-ray scanning for identifying material composition of an object being scanned. The system includes at least one X-ray source for projecting an X-ray beam on the object, where at least a portion of the projected X-ray beam is transmitted through the object, and an array of detectors for measuring energy spectra of the transmitted X-rays. The measured energy spectra are used to determine atomic number of the object for identifying the material composition of the object. The X-ray scanning system may also have an array of collimated high energy backscattered X-ray detectors for measuring the energy spectrum of X-rays scattered by the object at an angle greater than 90 degrees, where the measured energy spectrum is used in conjunction with the transmission energy spectrum to determine atomic numbers of the object for identifying the material composition of the object.

  • Publication number: 20150341621
Abstract: A multiple camera video system and methods for operating such a system. The system may include a plurality of cameras located around a stadium, athletic playing field or other location. The cameras are remotely controlled in a master-slave configuration. A camera operator at a master pan head selects one of the plurality of cameras as the current master camera and utilizes the master pan head to adjust the telemetry and zoom of the master camera to follow the target object. The telemetry and zoom parameters of the master camera are then used to calculate corresponding telemetry, zoom and/or other parameters for each of the plurality of slave cameras. Video captured by each of the cameras is stored for the production of replay video feeds or for archiving. The replays may be capable of “spinning” through the video feeds of adjacent cameras in order for the viewer to get the sensation of revolving around the target object. The multiple camera video system also includes methods for calibrating the system.

  • Patent number: 9183873
Abstract: A damping circuit having an input terminal and an output terminal is described. The damping circuit comprises a driver having an input and an output; an RC circuit coupled between the input terminal and the output; and a resistor coupled between the output and the output terminal, wherein the RC circuit delays passing a signal from the output terminal to the input terminal and a low impedance associated with the driver generally reduces ringing.

  • Publication number: 20150305351
Abstract: A method for economically retrieving pre-rigor lean and fat for pork sausage from a butcher hog; barrow (a male pig that has been castrated) or gilt (female pig less than six months old that has never been pregnant), (a pig approximately 285 lbs live weight, 6 months old and ready for market with no abnormalities). Retrieving pre-rigor pork sausage from a butcher hog is not known currently in the industry because the perception is that it is not economically feasible. The process technology as disclosed and claimed herein is a new method for economically retrieving and processing certain sections of a butcher hog for producing ground pork sausage while maintaining the value from the primal cuts. The ground pork sausage from this process has comparable texture, color, consistency and other characteristics as compared to the pork sausage retrieved from the older sows, which are typically utilized in industry.

  • Publication number: 20150134676
Abstract: A view of a data cube is produced, including a set of data entities available from the data cube. Information is presented, as metadata associated with the data cube, to guide a selection of a subset of data entities. A selection of a subset is received. A sub-query is constructed, configured according to a configuration standard adopted in the data cube, and to extract a set of records containing the selected subset of data entities. Using the sub-query on the data cube, the set of records is extracted as an intermediate set that conforms to the configuration standard. The intermediate set is normalized with a second intermediate set extracted from a second data cube using a second sub-query and conforming to a second configuration standard. The normalizing results in a normalized result set. The query is executed on the normalized result set to produce an answer to the query.

  • Publication number: 20150134677
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for amorphous data preparation for efficient query formulation are provided in the illustrative embodiments. A normalized form of representing a set of data cubes is selected, wherein the set of data cubes includes a first data cube conforming to first data representation and a second data cube conforming to a second data representation, and wherein the normalized form selects a third data representation to represent the data of each data cube in the set. A transformation is applied to the first data cube to represent the first data cube using the third data representation to create a normalized first data cube. A set of metadata elements corresponding to the normalized first data cube is computed. The normalized first data cube and the metadata of the normalized first data cube are saved in a data store.

  • Publication number: 20150134590
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for normalizing amorphous query result sets are provided in the illustrative embodiments. A property of data in a portion of the result set is identified. the property is usable for normalizing the portion into a structured data. Based on the property, the portion is categorized into a first category as a candidate for normalization using a first structure specification. The portion is transformed, responsive to the first category being selected for normalizing the portion over a second category in an evaluation, into the structured data according to the first structure specification of the first category. The structured data and a metadata of structure specification are added to a normalized result set. The normalized result set is output to a consumer application.

  • Publication number: 20150127927
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure provide efficient hardware dispatching of concurrent functions in multicore processors, and related processor systems, methods, and computer-readable media. In one embodiment, a first instruction indicating an operation requesting a concurrent transfer of program control is detected in a first hardware thread of a multicore processor. A request for the concurrent transfer of program control is enqueued in a hardware first-in-first-out (FIFO) queue. A second instruction indicating an operation dispatching the request for the concurrent transfer of program control in the hardware FIFO queue is detected in a second hardware thread of the multicore processor. The request for the concurrent transfer of program control is dequeued from the hardware FIFO queue, and the concurrent transfer of program control is executed in the second hardware thread.

  • Patent number: 8885355
Abstract: A structure such as a button may have a substrate. Components such as switches may be mounted on the substrate. The substrate may be a printed circuit board with solder pads. A snap member may be soldered to one of the solder pads. A metal clip may have a snap arm with an opening. The metal clip may be attached to the printed circuit board. When attached, the opening in the snap arm may mate with the snap member that is soldered to the solder pad on the printed circuit board. The printed circuit board may be attached to a button housing member. A button cover member may be attached to the clip. A ground connection may be formed between the metal clip and the snap member by providing the snap member with structures that bear against the metal clip and form an electrical connection.

  • Publication number: 20140208230
Abstract: Whenever a computing device such as a smart phone automatically corrects and replaces a word entered by the device's user, the computing device can responsively provide some sensory output to the user to signal to the user that the replacement has occurred. Because the user can sense the output, the user can become alerted to the fact of the automatic replacement prior to transmitting, or otherwise making permanent, the text containing the replaced word. The user can then proofread the text prior to transmission in order to ensure that the replaced word is actually the correct word that the user meant to enter. The sensory output can involve a visual highlighting of the replaced word, an audible speaking of the word that replaced the replaced word, and/or a tactile vibration of the computing device, for example.
