  • Patent number: 10364128
Abstract: An assembly for controlling a vertically extending member includes a device having a stop member and a speed control member for controlling movement of the vertically extending member such as an elevator load bearing member during a roping procedure. In a disclosed example, the stop member is biased into a stop position where the vertically extending member is locked between a brake pad and a guiding member so that the vertically extending member cannot move relative to the device. An example input member for moving the stop member out of the stop position comprises a foot pedal that can be manipulated to control a position of the stop member. Absent manual manipulation of the input member, the stop member prevents movement of the vertically extending member. In a disclosed example, a speed control member comprises a pad that selectively engages a vertically extending member responsive to manual manipulation of a handle for moving the pad relative to a base of the device.

  • Publication number: 20190223969
Abstract: A surgical system includes an insertion assembly and a drape shroud assembly mounted on the insertion assembly. When a sleeve of a surgical drape draping the insertion assembly is fastened to the drape shroud assembly, the sleeve is divided into two pockets. Instead of managing one long tube, the management problem of the drape sleeve is reduced to managing a plurality of shorter tubes. Shorter tubes make it easier for excess sleeve material to accordion as the tube length shortens instead of possibly bowing out and contacting a part of the insertion assembly or some other part of the surgical system.

  • Publication number: 20190226987
Abstract: The present invention makes use of a modular Folded Tubular Photometer to measure the concentrations of gas-phase species and/or particles, including especially air pollutants such as ozone (O3), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2) and black carbon particulate matter, by means of absorbance of ultraviolet (UV), visible or infrared (IR) light. The optical bench makes use of modular components (tubes and mirror assemblies) that allow construction of path lengths of up to 2 meters or more while maintaining low detection cell volumes. The long path lengths, low cell volumes, and the innovation of pressure equalization during the absorbance measurements enable sensitive detection of ambient air pollutants down to low part-per-billion levels or less for gas species, and extinctions down to 1 Mm?1 or less for particulate matter, corresponding to ˜0.13 ?g/m3 or less for black carbon particulates.
