  • Patent number: 11583751
Abstract: The diagnosed soft tissue or brain injury component of concussions is generally defined by the symptoms of the temporal lobe manifestations. However, there is an undiagnosed structural fractured component of concussions occurring within the jaw joint complex which is the focus of this invention. A precise imaging technique and the powerful 3D Cone beam scanning technology, together, have revealed fractures in temporal bones of the jaw joint space which supports the temporal lobe of the brain. These fractures are the results of the lower jaw impact forces that cause concussions and this mechanism account for a large percent of the concussions arising in sports and military operations. These fractures have never been considered, diagnosed, or treated in the management of concussions. Fracturing temporal bones in the jaw joint that supports the temporal lobe will certainly produce the symptoms of temporal lobe manifestations.

  • Patent number: 11582059
Abstract: Messaging between an ultra-tag and external microcontroller. In an embodiment, a transmitting device is communicatively connected to a receiving device by a clear-to-communicate line and request line. When data to be transmitted has normal priority, the transmitting device detects whether the clear-to-communicate line indicates that the receiving device is available, indicates a request to transmit on the request line if so, waits until the receiving device is available and then indicates a request to transmit on the request line if not, after indicating a request to transmit, transmits the data when the clear-to-communicate line indicates that the receiving device is unavailable, and, after transmitting the data, releases the indication of the request to transmit on the request line. On the other hand, when the data has high priority, the transmitting device indicates a request to transmit on the request line, regardless of an indication on the clear-to-communicate line.

  • Patent number: 11562632
Abstract: The present disclosure provides improved packaging detection at self-checkout kiosks by identifying a given bag type for a bag selected at a self-checkout kiosk out of a plurality of bag types available from a bag dispenser associated with the self-checkout kiosk; identifying a weight range for the given bag type; in response to determining that the bag has been moved to a packing area of the self-checkout kiosk, comparing a first weight in the packing area from before the bag was moved to the packing area with a second weight in the packing area that includes the bag; and in response to a difference between the first weight and the second weight falling outside of the weight range, generating a loss prevention alert and pausing a transaction at the self-checkout kiosk.

  • Patent number: 11554634
Abstract: An air handling system for distributing airflow in a vehicle is disclosed and includes a passenger compartment configured to contain one or more occupants, a cargo compartment, and a flow regulating valve configured to actuate into a commanded position to apportion airflow between the passenger and cargo compartments. The air handling system also includes one or more processors in electronic communication with the flow regulating valve and a memory coupled to the one or more processors. The memory stores data comprising a database and program code that, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the air handling system to receive one or more signals indicating a total available airflow rate available to the vehicle and a system configuration. The one or more processors instruct the flow regulating valve to actuate into a commanded position. The commanded position is calculated based on at least a target cargo airflow rate.

  • Patent number: 11551274
Abstract: In a virtual environment implemented using multiple hosts, a first host maintains records identifying virtual objects and entities which control the virtual objects. When a second host receives a request of a first entity acquiring the control of a virtual object from a second entity, the second host instructs the first host to: update a first record to remove the virtual object from a view simulation of the virtual world servicing the second entity; and adding a second record associating the first entity with the virtual object but having an indicator that prevents the rendering of the virtual object for the first entity. At the time for the completion of the control transfer to the first entity, the second host instructs the first host to update the second record to remove the indicator and thus allow the virtual object to be rendered in the view simulation servicing the first entity.

  • Publication number: 20220326215
Abstract: A fully-printed sensor chip for measuring prothrombin time of a blood sample. The sensor chip includes a pair of electrodes and a pair of contact pads, each electrically coupled to a different one of the electrodes, printed on the surface of the substrate using conductive ink materials. When a blood sample is placed on the sample chip in contact with both electrodes, an impedance of the blood sample is determined based on a measured impedance between the two contact pads. As the blood sample clots, the impedance value changes and the prothrombin time for the blood sample is determined based on a measurement time of a maximum impedance value. A resistive bridge printed on the substrate surface between the contact pads increases a baseline measurement for the sensor chip to a value within a range that is measurable by lower-cost measurement equipment.

  • Patent number: 11459308
Abstract: The present invention is related to the development of therapeutics and prophylactics for the treatment and/or prevention of filovirus infection in humans and other mammals. A new class of small molecules is disclosed that inhibits the interaction of naturally processed (i.e., proteolytically cleaved) filovirus glycoprotein (GPCL) with its host receptor Niemann-Pick C1 (NPC1) protein and thus block infection of host cells by filoviruses. Also disclosed are methods of using the small molecule inhibitors in the treatment/prevention of filovirus infection.
