  • Publication number: 20200136972
Abstract: Techniques for identifying network congestion and adapting network performance to relieve the network congestion are described. As described, a network element such as a switch reports network congestion indicators such as link level control frames to a network controller. The network controller uses the network congestion indicators reported from the network elements to identify congestion points, data traffic, and data flows experiencing congestion at a network level. The network controller then determines optimized control parameters for the network in order to reduce or alleviate the congestion at the congestion points.

  • Patent number: 10545255
Abstract: One example of an acoustic signal attenuator for LWD/MWD logging systems can be implemented as an acoustic well logging tool positionable in a wellbore. The tool includes a longitudinal tool body. An acoustic signal transmitter and an acoustic signal receiver are mounted in the tool body and spaced longitudinally apart from each other. An acoustic signal attenuator which includes multiple slots formed in an outer surface of a portion of the tool body is positioned between the transmitter and the receiver. Each slot includes multiple protrusions extending from an inner surface of the slot into the slot. In operation, the multiple protrusions in each slot operate to attenuate an acoustic signal propagating from the transmitter to the receiver through the tool body.

  • Patent number: 10461992
Abstract: In one embodiment, detection of failures in a network device can be achieved by obtaining a last hop of partial traceroutes. For example, the last hops of the partial traceroutes detected in a time period can be sorted by frequency of occurrence. Multiple clusters can be generated, one with last hops that are most frequent and at least one other with the last hops that are less frequent. The hop with the highest frequency and the last hop with the second highest frequency can be compared. If the last hop with the highest frequency exceeds the second highest frequency by a predetermined amount, then the last hop with the highest frequency is alarmable.

  • Patent number: 10443375
Abstract: Movable transducer designs used in downhole environments increase the efficiency of the transmitter and receivers, thereby obtaining improved logging data. In one embodiment, the transmitter/receivers are tilted/rotated to direct the strongest acoustic wave pressure to the critical path for increasing signal strength. In other embodiments, the transmitter/receiver may be extended outwardly toward the formation, or retracted inwardly from the formation. An adaptive algorithm is provided to rotate the transmitter/receiver to match the critical angle when the formation slowness changes. Also, a transmitter/receiver port may be designed to have a cone-shape that matches the impedance of the acoustic wave to the surrounding environment.

  • Publication number: 20190245710
Abstract: Exemplified systems and methods facilitate multicasting latency optimization operations for router, switches, and other network devices, for routed Layer-3 multicast packets to provide even distribution latency and/or selective prioritized distribution of latency among multicast destinations. A list of network destinations for serially-replicated packets is traversed in different sequences from one packet to the next, to provide delay fairness among the listed destinations. The list of network destinations are mapped to physical network ports, virtual ports, or logical ports of the router, switches, or other network devices and, thus, the different sequences are also traversed from these physical network ports, virtual ports, or logical ports. The exemplified systems and methods facilitates the management of traffic that is particularly beneficial in a data center.

  • Publication number: 20190235120
Abstract: An antenna shield latches around a mandrel or wellbore tubular to protect an antenna carried by the mandrel. The antenna shield opens to facilitate installation over the mandrel, and closes the around the antenna to provide robust protection from the downhole environment. Radial sections of the antenna shield are coupled to one another such that the antenna shield maintains a one piece construction, and the sections may pivot to move the antenna shield between open and closed configurations. Readily opening and closing the antenna shield facilitates maintenance and repair of the antenna and reusability of the antenna shield. Other components of a logging tool system, e.g., stabilizers, may also be provided with a similar latch mechanism for coupling to an outer diameter of the wellbore tubular.

  • Publication number: 20190041266
Abstract: A spectroscopic metrology system includes a spectroscopic metrology tool and a controller. The controller generates a model of a multilayer grating including two or more layers, the model including geometric parameters indicative of a geometry of a test layer of the multilayer grating and dispersion parameters indicative of a dispersion of the test layer. The controller further receives a spectroscopic signal of a fabricated multilayer grating corresponding to the modeled multilayer grating from the spectroscopic metrology tool. The controller further determines values of the one or more parameters of the modeled multilayer grating providing a simulated spectroscopic signal corresponding to the measured spectroscopic signal within a selected tolerance. The controller further predicts a bandgap of the test layer of the fabricated multilayer grating based on the determined values of the one or more parameters of the test layer of the fabricated structure.
