The connector includes a load carousel which enables handling, locating, retention, and, where needed, spring-loading of the plurality of single-fiber fiber optic ferrules supported within the connector, and the connector itself provides for independent axial and radial alignment of the fiber optic contacts. The adapter includes a plurality of optical alignment sleeves, and mating interfaces for two different connector types on differing sides of the adapter, wherein the fiber count of one connector type is an integral multiple of the fiber count of the other connector type, and wherein the contact pattern of the first connector type is repeated the same integral number of times within the contact pattern of the second connector type.

Abstract: A system for identifying language(s) for content items is disclosed. The system can identify different languages for content item words segments by identifying segment languages that maximize a probability across the segments. The probability can be a combination of: an author's likelihood for the language identified for the first word; a combination of transition frequencies for selected languages identified for words, the transition frequencies indicating likelihoods that a transition occurred to the selected language from the previous word's language; and a combination of observation probabilities indicating, for a given word in the content item, a likelihood the given word is in the identified language. For an in-vocabulary word, the observation probabilities can be based on learned probability for that word. For an out-of-vocabulary word, the probability can be computed by breaking the word into overlapping n-grams and computing combined learned probabilities that each n-gram is in the given language.

Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for providing classification of body orientation of a mammal. The apparatus includes means (10, 11) for measuring position of said body relative to a frame of reference at one or more points on the body, wherein said means for measuring includes at least one position sensor. The apparatus includes means (12) for providing first data indicative of said position; means (15) for storing said data at least temporarily; and means (13, 14) for processing said data to provide said classification of body orientation. A method for providing classification of body orientation of a mammal is also disclosed.

Abstract: A simulator ride may include an annular structure forming at least a partial annulus on which a path is implemented. Additionally, the simulator ride may include a headset with a display designed to be worn by a passenger. A passenger support system may be coupled to the path of the annular structure and designed to move along the path and rotate about a center axis of the annular structure when in operation. Additionally, the annular structure may be configured to be articulated in one or more degrees of freedom.

Abstract: A U-shaped clip for use in a driveline shield system having a cap disposed to releasably engage a bearing mounted adjacent a drive shaft. The cap supports a tubular guard or shield in a coaxial position relative to the drive shaft. One or more lugs on the bearing are disposed to seat in corresponding slots formed in the cap. When the lugs are seated in the slots, rotation of the cap relative to the bearing causes the bearing and the cap to engage one another. The U-shaped clip is pivotally mounted to the cap and rotatable between a first position in which the clip extends into the slot and secures the lugs in engagement with the cap and a second release position in which the clip is retracted from the slot, thereby permitting relative rotation between the cap and bearing.

Abstract: A method of distributing oil to a component within a gas turbine engine includes directing a first oil flow from an oil source to an engine component and back to the oil source, directing a second oil flow from the oil source to a generator driven by the engine and back to the oil source, monitoring a parameter of the second oil flow downstream of the generator and upstream of the oil source, detecting a contaminant in the second oil flow based on the parameter, and reducing the second oil flow to the generator when the contaminant is detected without reducing the first oil flow to the engine component. A shared oil system for a component of a gas turbine engine and a generator driven by the gas turbine engine is also discussed.

Abstract: A hydrocarbon composition that is produced through a solvent extraction of woody tree material is provided. The composition is suitable for use as a petroleum substitute. The woody tree material is sourced from hydrocarbon-bearing trees or shrubs containing relatively low molecular weight hydrocarbons. Suitable tree species include pine and eucalyptus trees. A raw woody tree biomass is processed into solvent-permeable particles and chips. Naturally occurring hydrocarbons found in the wood particles are extracted using an organic solvent extraction process. The organic solvent utilized is a mixture of organic solvents that includes a non-polar solvent and a polar solvent. The extracted hydrocarbons are separated from the solvent mixture and may be used as a petroleum substitute, while the solvent may be reused in the extraction operation.
