    Abstract: A contact lens applicator has an elongated housing defining an interior chamber for storing contact lenses, first and second triggers mounted on the housing, a depressor for depressing each eyelid where the depressor is drivingly coupled to the triggers, a pair of opposing wing-shaped members projecting outwardly from opposite sides of the rollers for providing a support surface for facilitating locating the apparatus over the eye, and a pusher assembly slidably mounted within the interior chamber for engaging a contact lens holder and applying a contact lens thereon to the eye when the triggers are actuated. The contact lens is stored in a cartridge within the elongated housing. The lens holder is movable within the cartridge upon actuating the pusher, and includes a predetermined amount of saline or other solution for defining appropriate conditions for storing the lens.

The resealable portion is made of low-density polyethylene or like material, and can be punctured by a needle or like injection member for dispensing medicament into the vial. Prior to filling, the cap is assembled to the vial and the cap/vial assembly is sterilized. Then, a needle is inserted through the cap and medicament is introduced through the needle and into the vial. Upon withdrawal of the needle, the penetrated region of the cap is fused by laser or direct heat sealing to hermetically seal the needle hole in the cap.

    Abstract: An aerosol tip mechanism for an aerosol-type dispenser for dispensing liquid content has a flexible outer shell, a rigid cap portion composed of lower and upper portions, and a rigid nozzle portion having a rigid shaft received within the outlet portion of the flexible outer shell. The rigid shaft interfaces the outlet portion of the outer shell, forming a first normally-closed one-way valve. The lower and upper portions of the rigid cap portion form boots adapted to receive an outlet portion of the flexible outer shell, the boots thereby constraining a lateral motion of the outlet portion of the outer shell, and symmetrically centering the outlet portion around the rigid shaft of the nozzle. The rigid nozzle portion includes a plurality of liquid channels for delivering liquid from a reservoir to a swirling chamber defined within the rigid cap portion, which liquid channels are configured to minimize energy losses of the liquid and promote a more homogeneous fluid particle size in the dispensed aerosol.

    Abstract: A device for intradermal delivery having a housing containing a syringe for injecting a substance at a predetermined insertion depth and a base assembly for tensioning a target area of skin. One embodiment tensions the skin by vacuum and another by expansion of a mounting surface in contact with the skin. Upon tensioning the target area, a needle extends into the target area to the insertion depth. At the insertion depth, a plunger depresses within the syringe and delivers the substance therein through the needle. Upon completing injection, the needle retracts, the skin tensioning is released and the intradermal delivery device is removed.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a uniquely configured medicament vial assembly which includes a storage vial, a stopper member and a securing ring. The vial assembly is configured to improve healthcare worker safety by providing a shielded gripping location to aid in the reduction of accidental needle sticks. The storage vial has a body portion which defines an interior chamber for storing a predetermined medicament and a neck portion through which medicament is received into and withdrawn from the interior chamber. The stopper member is inserted into the mouth of the vial and establishes a first seal. The securing ring is engaged with the mouth of the vial and adapted and configured for retaining the stopper member within the vial mouth and effectuating a second seal. The securing ring is formed from a thermoplastic and/or elastic material. Preferably, the securing ring is formed by molding the thermoplastic and/or elastic material over a portion of the storage vial and stopper member when engaged within the vial mouth.

    Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing a fluid includes a rigid vial that has a main fluid chamber containing a fluid, and a pump assembly that is in fluid communication with the main fluid chamber and is configured to dispense a predetermined quantity of fluid from the main fluid chamber. A flexible bladder is provided which is located within the main fluid chamber and is configured to expand to fill the ullage created within the main fluid chamber during dispensing of fluid by the pump assembly. The resilient bladder tends to force itself outwardly toward the rigid vial and, in turn, increases the pressure within the main fluid chamber in comparison to the interior of the bladder to thereby prevent the ingress of air or vapors through the bladder or otherwise into the main fluid chamber.

    Abstract: A container including a nozzle and body depending therefrom. The body is preferably tubular and defines an interior which retains a product to be dispensed. A cap engages the nozzle to prevent inadvertent release of the product. In order to dispense the product, the cap is removed and pressure is applied to the body and the nozzle allows release of the product. The nozzle releases the product without exposing the remaining product to the external atmosphere, thus the sterility of the interior of the body is maintained and the shelf life of the product is increased. The nozzle includes an inner body, coupled to the tubular body, surrounded by a flexible outer cover. A seam between the inner body and flexible outer cover forms a one-way release valve wherein a portion of the seam remains closed during dispensing the product.

    Abstract: A sterile filling machine and related method are provided for sterile filling a container with a substance. The container includes a heat resealable stopper and a chamber for receiving the substance therein. The sealed, empty containers are subjected to radiation capable of penetrating through the stopper and chamber for sterilizing the container. The previously sterilized containers are then transported through an e-beam chamber, wherein an electron beam is directed onto a penetrable surface of the stopper to sterilize the penetrable surface. A needle is mounted within the e-beam chamber and moved into engagement with the stopper to pierce the sterilized penetrable surface of the stopper and inject the substance through the needle and into the chamber of the container. The needle is then withdrawn from the stopper and the filled container is transported outside of the e-beam chamber.

    Abstract: The subject intradermal delivery device provides for penetration to a fixed depth without requiring special expertise by the user. The device consists of a syringe nested inside an inner shell and an outer shell. An elongated annular channel is formed between the inner shell and the outer shell. A housing receives the syringe and concentric shells in a sliding engagement. A first seal on the distal end of the housing forms a variable length channel in communication with the elongated annular channel via a port formed in the outer shell. When the device is applied to the skin, the housing and syringe are slid towards the skin, and the variable length channel generates a vacuum which forces the skin to bulge into the elongated annular channel. As a result, the skin is tensioned across the inner shell to form a substantially planar, taut target area of skin. The taut target area of skin in combination with a stop on the housing determines the insertion depth of the syringe.
