  • Patent number: 10405997
Abstract: A passive artificial knee includes a knee hinge assembly defining a knee axis, a locking hinge assembly defining a locking axis, and a post linking the knee hinge assembly and the locking hinge assembly. A ground reaction force applied to the artificial knee posterior to the locking axis causes an interfering relation by compression of the locking hinge assembly and the knee hinge assembly during heel strike at early-stance gait phase of an individual wearing the artificial knee, thereby locking rotation of the post about the knee axis. Shifting of ground reaction force anterior to the locking axis during a mid-stance to late-stance gait phase of the individual causes rotation of the post about the locking axis, thereby unlocking rotation of the post about the knee axis and enabling flexion and subsequent swing phase extension of the passive artificial knee joint. The artificial knee is a passive joint that can be fabricated and maintained at low expense.

  • Patent number: 10368670
Abstract: A multiple-piece adjustable beverage holder, capable of accommodating numerous types and quantities of beverages simultaneously with ground penetration capability or insertion into a pedestal. The purpose of this invention is to provide the user a stable hands-free, lightweight, portable, product that keeps their beverage closer to the user at various heights. The receptacles accept cans, bottles, cups, inter alia with or without insulating devices (coolies, cuzzies, coozies, etc.) of various sizes. It can be modified to meet height requirements and ground conditions. When ground hardness does not permit insertion, any shaft can be inserted into the Pedestal to provide one the desired height. Once inserted into the ground or the Pedestal the product is self-supporting. The preferred manufacturing process is 3D printing/additive manufacturing due the size, cost, ease of use, and the ability to integrate logos, names, or other customized information on the invention.

  • Publication number: 20190236191
Abstract: An online system manages data by determining relevance of data dimensions to users. The online system determines which data dimensions a user is likely to be interested in. If a user requests to access a data set that includes data of different dimensions, the online system analyzes the dimensions' relevance to the user before providing the data set to the user. The online system provides the data to the user by prioritizing data dimensions that are more relevant to the user. As such, the online system improves the user experience by allowing users to conveniently and quickly locate relevant data and minimizing the distraction caused by irrelevant data. The online system may create and provide a user interface to present data dimensions that are determined to be relevant.

  • Publication number: 20190233248
Abstract: Transformable cable reels, related assemblies and methods are disclosed. The transformable cable reels may be provided in a first reel configuration for spooling on cable to the transformable cable reel and to pay out the spooled cable from the transformable cable reel. Cable spooled on the transformable cable reel may be payed out during cable installations. The transformable cable reel may also be configured in a second reel configuration for storage of any excess cable after cable payout. As one non-limiting example, the volume of the cable reel may be less in the second reel configuration than in the first reel configuration so that less volume is required to store the transformable cable reel. Providing the transformable cable reel in the second reel configuration may make it more feasible to store the transformable cable reel in fiber optic equipment, and/or avoid storing excess cable removed from a cable reel.

  • Publication number: 20190216312
Abstract: A remote eye examination method includes initiating a remote chat session between a local computing device coupled to a phoropter, and a remote computer, and initializing the phoropter for remote control by the remote computer. Then, a multi-colored lamp is activated in a first color until a determination that a refractory examination utilizing the phoropter has commenced. Thereafter, responsive to a determination that the examination has commenced, the multi-colored lamp changes to a second color, and movement of portions of the phoropter are commanded as directed by the remote computer, data is recorded into a patient record and a progression of the examination monitored. Finally, on condition that a threshold period of time before a conclusion of the refractory examination is detected, the multi-colored lamp changes to a third color and upon conclusion of the examination, a message transmitted to a remote account indicating access to the patient record.

  • Publication number: 20190220330
Abstract: A system and a method of identifying and locating a firearm provides location information for firearms relative to a user. Components are integrated into the firearm that enable location data to emit from the firearm for subsequent collection and distribution by any of several remote servers. A plurality of user accounts is managed by the remote server, wherein each user account is associated with a corresponding personal computing (PC) device. The current firearm location for each firearm profile and the current user location are continuously relayed to the remote server. The two locations are compared to identify at least one in-danger user account from the plurality of user accounts.
