  • Patent number: 10294490
Abstract: Compositions and methods for controlling pests are provided. The methods involve transforming organisms with a nucleic acid sequence encoding an insecticidal protein. In particular, the nucleic acid sequences are useful for preparing plants and microorganisms that possess insecticidal activity. Thus, transformed bacteria, plants, plant cells, plant tissues and seeds are provided. Compositions are insecticidal nucleic acids and proteins of bacterial species. The sequences find use in the construction of expression vectors for subsequent transformation into organisms of interest including plants, as probes for the isolation of other homologous (or partially homologous) genes. The pesticidal proteins find use in controlling, inhibiting growth or killing Lepidopteran, Coleopteran, Dipteran, fungal, Hemipteran and nematode pest populations and for producing compositions with insecticidal activity.

  • Patent number: 10295075
Abstract: A cylinder valve for use with a cylinder containing fluid under pressure. The cylinder valve has an aluminum valve body. The valve body has a flow passage extending through the valve body for permitting fluid to flow through the body to exit the cylinder and a vent passage for permitting fluid to vent from the cylinder. Nickel plating is applied to the vent passage. A dispensing valve is positioned along the flow passage. Thermal relief material in the vent passage blocks flow through the vent passage until a predetermined venting temperature is reached when the material changes to a flowable state to unblock the vent passage and allow venting of the cylinder through the vent passage.

  • Patent number: 10293846
Abstract: A locking device for an adjustable steering column for a motor vehicle may include an actuating shaft that is mounted such that it can be rotated about a rotational axis, that is connected to an operative element of a clamping device, and that is coupled to a rotor of a rotational damper. The rotor may be mounted rotatably in a housing and may be capable of being driven rotationally about a rotor axis by the actuating shaft. A rotational movement of the rotor may be damped in at least one rotational direction. The rotor may have at least one blade that projects radially with regard to the rotor axis and that has a contact face that makes frictional contact with a contact track on an inner face of the housing. Such a locking device has an improved rotational damper, is less complicated to manufacture, and has high acceptance in automotive engineering.

  • Patent number: 10296195
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are described for creating custom user interface (“UI”) controls. A networked computing service may determine that an action performed by a user of the service is likely to be repeated, based on previous actions performed by the user and/or other users, parameters of the action including characteristics of an item associated with the action, and other criteria. The networked computing service may generate, or recommend generation of, a custom UI control that automates performance of the action. The networked computing service may automatically determine parameters of the action, and may determine alternative parameters and/or alternative actions if the action cannot be performed using the determined parameters. Custom UI controls may be associated with various computing devices and/or other electronic devices, and categories of custom UI controls may be determined and displayed.

  • Patent number: 10293991
Abstract: A pourer attachment that is selectively engageable with a bottle is provided for pouring and mixing a base liquid (e.g., liquor) and a secondary liquid (e.g., hydration concentration). The pourer includes a neck section and a base section. The base section includes a reservoir for containing the secondary liquid and is in fluid communication with a secondary liquid channel of the neck section through which the secondary liquid may be poured when a lid associated with the pourer is open. An aperture in the lid allows the base liquid to be poured when the lid is in a closed position. As such, when the lid is in its open position, both the secondary liquid and base liquid may be poured and mixed, and when the lid is in its closed position, only the base liquid may be poured.

  • Patent number: 10294846
Abstract: A system includes one or more processors configured to be operably coupled to a vehicle system configured to travel along a route during a trip. The vehicle system has a vehicle particulate filter (VPF) disposed within an exhaust passage of the vehicle system. The one or more processors are configured to determine, based on trip information about the trip of the vehicle system, one or more regeneration-incompatible (RI) portions of the trip. The RI portions are associated with operating conditions of the vehicle system that are unsuitable for contemporaneous active regeneration of the VPF. The one or more processors are further configured to schedule an active regeneration (AR) event for the vehicle system based on the one or more RI portions of the trip. The AR event occurs during a regeneration portion of the trip.

  • Patent number: 10293924
Abstract: The runway state determined on the ground by an aircraft and provided to the aircraft on approach does not make it possible to account for possible degradation of the runway occurring since the previous determination of that runway state. Updating of this runway state on the basis of a simple comparison between a desired deceleration and an observed deceleration resulting from a degraded runway is not satisfactory either. The disclosure herein thus provides for obtaining a local stopping distance according to a local runway state characterizing a runway zone on which the aircraft is in movement at the time of the landing, this local stopping distance being estimated based on local measurements made in the aircraft; obtaining a reference stopping distance according to a reference runway state; then comparing these two distances with each other to determine whether the local runway state is more degraded than the reference runway state.
