  • Patent number: 8226240
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided in which a digital image is transmitted to a presentation projector resource over a wireless transmission medium using a reduced amount of bandwidth by transmitting a subset of the digital image data. The subset of image data may be a delta subset that represents those areas of the image that have changed since the previous transmission. The subset image data may also be a scalable vector graphics representation of the subset of the digital image. A projector discovery logic selects a suitable projector resource based on the order or signal strength of the discovery replies. A wireless image transmission session is established with the selected projector resource during which the projector is unavailable to other devices. The subset image data may be compressed and transmission coordinated with the projector resource so that the data is sent only when it is ready to be received.

  • Publication number: 20110051916
Abstract: An approach for establishing a communication session according to a subscriber profile that is automatically updated is disclosed. A locator device, which is associated with a subscriber and includes a Global Positioning System (GPS) transponder, outputs geographic information that is transmitted to a communications network for establishing the communication session. The geographic information corresponds to one of a plurality of addresses specified in the subscriber profile to set a current address. The addresses are associated with a plurality of devices adapted to complete the communication session. The one address is designated as the current address if the geographic information corresponds to the one address, otherwise the current address is set to a default address, wherein the communication session is established based on the current address.

  • Patent number: 7519703
Abstract: A media content distribution and display system and method that includes a central server, a plurality of remote display devices, and an electronic network for communicating therebetween. The plurality of remote display devices receive via the electronic network or local peripheral device the media content. Each of the remote display devices includes at least one electronic display, presence sensors, a local storage device for storing the content media, security sensors, and a processor that causes the electronic device to display the media content in response to detected presence of people in various proximity distances from the electronic display. The processor also sends messages to the central server when the security sensors detect someone tampering with the remote display device.

  • Patent number: RE43542
Abstract: An optical fiber terminating assembly has an outer body (10), a first member (11) locatable in the outer body (10) and which carries a protruding length of optical fiber (36) which locates an alignment structure (44, 45) and a housing (12) locatable in alignment with the first member (11). The housing (12) has an access opening for receiving an optical fiber (52, 53) to be terminated so that the fiber can be located in the alignment structure in abutment with the optical fiber length (35). The housing has a compartment (47) which receives a heat responsive adhesive element (57), a saddle (58) and a resistor (59). When a current is passed through the resistor, the heat generated is transmitted by the saddle to the adhesive which melts and flows around the optical fiber (52, 53) to secure it in position in abutment with the optical fiber length (35).
