  • Patent number: 10901658
Abstract: Devices and techniques for host adaptive memory device optimization are provided. A memory device can maintain a host model of interactions with a host. A set of commands from the host can be evaluated to create a profile of the set of commands. The profile can be compared to the host model to determine an inconsistency between the profile and the host model. An operation of the memory device can then be modified based on the inconsistency.

  • Publication number: 20210021361
Abstract: The present invention relates to IoT devices existing in a deployed ecosystem. The various computers in the deployed ecosystem are able to respond to requests from a device directly associated with it in a particular hierarchy, or it may seek a response to the request from a high order logic/data source (parent). The logic/data source parent may then repeat the understanding process to either provide the necessary response to the logic/data source child who then replies to the device or it will again ask a parent logic/data sources for the appropriate response. This architecture allows for a single device to make one request to a single known source and potentially get a response back from the entire ecosystem of distributed servers.

  • Publication number: 20210012303
Abstract: A system and method for performing a transaction at a point of sale (“POS”) device includes a user device providing data indicative of a financial transaction. The data includes parameters that define the financial transaction, for example merchant name or type, transaction amount, etc. The financial institution creates an active authentication key for use in the financial transaction. Upon receiving a transaction request from the point of sale device, the financial institution can analyze the active authentication key and the parameters to determine if the transaction request should be approved.

  • Patent number: 10884659
Abstract: Devices and techniques for host timeout avoidance in a memory device are disclosed herein. A memory device command is received with a memory device from a host. A determination is made, with the memory device, of a host timeout interval associated with the received memory device command. A timer of the memory device is initialized to monitor a time interval from receipt of the memory device command. After partially performing the memory device command, a response to the host before the memory device timer interval reaches the host timeout interval is generated by the memory device.

  • Patent number: 10877882
Abstract: Systems and methods for adapting garbage collection (GC) operations in a memory device to a pattern of host accessing the device are discussed. The host access pattern can be represented by how frequent the device is in idle states free of active host access. An exemplary memory device includes a memory controller to track a count of idle periods during a specified time window, and to adjust an amount of memory space to be freed by a GC operation in accordance with the count of idle periods. The memory controller can also dynamically reallocate a portion of the memory cells between a single level cell (SLC) cache and a multi-level cell (MLC) storage according to the count of idle periods during the specified time window.

  • Publication number: 20200401513
Abstract: Systems and methods for adapting garbage collection (GC) operations in a memory device to a host write activity are described. A host write progress can be represented by an actual host write count relative to a target host write count. The host write activity may be estimated in a unit time such as per day, or accumulated over a specified time period. A memory controller can adjust an amount of memory space to be freed by a GC operation according to the host write progress. The memory controller can also dynamically reallocate a portion of the memory cells between a single level cell (SLC) cache and a multi-level cell (MLC) storage according to the host write progress.

  • Publication number: 20200401514
Abstract: Systems and methods for adapting garbage collection (GC) operations in a memory device to an estimated device age are discussed. An exemplary memory device includes a memory controller to track an actual device age, determine a device wear metric using a physical write count and total writes over an expected lifetime of the memory device, estimate a wear-indicated device age, and adjust an amount of memory space to be freed by a GC operation according to the wear-indicated device age relative to the actual device age. The memory controller can also dynamically reallocate a portion of the memory cells between a single level cell (SLC) cache and a multi-level cell (MLC) storage according to the wear-indicated device age relative to the actual device age.

  • Patent number: 10871907
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are disclosed, including using a memory controller to partition a memory array into a first portion and a second portion, the first portion and second portion having non-overlapping logical block addressing (LBA) ranges. The memory controller assigns a first granularity of a first logical-to-physical (L2P) mapping table entry for the first portion of the memory array designated for a first usage, and a second granularity of a second L2P mapping table entry for the second portion of the memory array designated for a second usage, where the second granularity is not equal to the first granularity. The memory controller stores the first granularity and the second granularity in the memory array, and stores at least a portion of the first L2P mapping table entry and the second L2P mapping table entry in an L2P cache of the memory controller.

  • Patent number: 10866861
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure configure a system component, such as memory sub-system controller, to defer performance of an error-correction parity calculation for a block of a memory components of the memory subsystem. In particular, a memory sub-system controller of some embodiments can defer (e.g., delay) performance of an error-correction parity calculation and can defer the error-correction parity calculation such that it is performed at a time when the memory sub-system satisfies an idle state condition.
