  • Publication number: 20200014503
Abstract: A mobile terminal camps in a first cell associated with a first reference signal with a first physical structure that relates to a first Time Division Duplex (TDD) allocation of sub-frames for uplink and downlink transmission. The first reference signal is carried by the downlink sub-frames. The mobile terminal detects a broadcast indication of a second physical structure for carrying a second reference signal that relates to a second allocation of sub-frames for uplink and downlink transmissions that differs from the first allocation. The downlink sub-frames according to the second allocation carry the second reference signal. The mobile terminal measures the second reference signal of a neighbor cell as carried by the second physical structure.

  • Patent number: 10517079
Abstract: Embodiments herein include a method in a user equipment (UE) for transmitting uplink control information in time slots of a subframe over a radio channel to a radio base station. The uplink control information is comprised in a block of bits. The UE maps the block of bits to a sequence of complex valued modulation symbols. The UE block spreads the sequence across Discrete Fourier Transform Spread—Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (DFTS-OFDM) symbols. This is performed by applying a spreading sequence to the sequence of complex valued modulation symbols, to achieve a block spread sequence of complex valued modulation symbols. The UE further transforms the block-spread sequence, per DFTS-OFDM symbol. This is performed by applying a matrix that depends on a DFTS-OFDM symbol index and/or slot index to the block-spread sequence. The UE also transmits the block spread sequence, as transformed, over the radio channel to the radio base station.

Abstract: A method in a first wireless node for transmitting a reference signal is provided. The first wireless node operates in a wireless communications network. The first wireless node transmits the reference signal from at least two transmit antennas of the first wireless node. The reference signal is transmitted with a phase between the at least two transmit antennas indicating a desired phase related to radio conditions for reception of a transmission from a first radio node at the first wireless node. The reference signal is to be received and taken into account by one or more other radio nodes in the wireless communications network, e.g. when scheduling transmissions to other wireless nodes.

  • Patent number: 10439781
Abstract: The present invention relates to cellular radio communication and in particular to providing information on neighbor cells to enable terminals to perform neighbor cell measurements. In the prior art the terminal attempts to make neighbor cell measurements in a reference signal structure that is the same in the neighbor cell as in the cell the terminal camps in. The present invention is based on the insight that the reference signal structure may differ between neighboring cell for example in the situation of an MBSFN area that is restricted to a region of all cells of a radio network, or in the situation of TDD mode being applied there may be different regions with different allocation of sub-frames for transmission in the uplink and downlink directions. The present invention solves the problem by broadcast information in a cell indicative of the reference signal structure in neighbor cells.

  • Patent number: 10389424
Abstract: A method for adapting a beam shape of a beam in a wireless communication system having multiple nodes is disclosed. Each node is provided with an antenna system configured to provide radio coverage in a cell by a cell specific beam. The method comprises: calculating a transmit weight vector for each user to be served by a given cell based on information of spatial channel characteristics for the user to be served by the given cell and long term interference characteristics estimated based on aggregated information of spatial channel characteristics for users that the given cell should avoid interfering with and that are served by other cells; performing phase normalization of the calculated transmit weight vectors; and aggregating all transmit weight vectors to establish a common transmit weight vector used to form the beam shape for the cell specific beam.

  • Patent number: 10361821
Abstract: In one aspect, a wireless device receives a first data transmission from a base station during a predetermined subframe interval and within a duration that is less than a maximum data transmission duration that is possible within the predetermined subframe interval, and determines a transmission time for transmitting HARQ feedback to the base station such that the determined transmission time depends on which subset of symbols within the predetermined subframe interval was used for the first data transmission. The wireless device transmits HARQ feedback for the first data transmission at the determined transmission time. In another aspect, a base station transmits the first data transmission and determines a reception time for receiving HARQ feedback such that the determined transmission time depends on which subset of symbols within the predetermined subframe interval was used. The base station receives HARQ feedback for the first data transmission at the determined transmission time.

  • Publication number: 20190215793
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and arrangements in a base station and a user equipment for determining an uplink transmission timing correction for communication in a telecommunication system in which aggregation of component carriers is applied. The base station receives a signal from the user equipment on an uplink (UL) component carrier and measures the arrival time of the signal. A timing correction of the UL transmission timing based on the arrival time of the signal is determined. Thereupon the base station determines for which of the uplink component carriers used by the user equipment the timing correction is valid. The timing correction and the validity information is sent to the user equipment. The user equipment adjusts the UL transmission timing for each UL component carrier the timing correction is valid for.

  • Patent number: 10348381
Abstract: There is provided mechanisms for configuring an antenna system having individual antenna elements arranged in at least two antenna subarrays. Each pair of antenna subarrays has a respective first spatial separation. Each pair of the individual antenna elements has a respective second spatial separation. A method is performed by a network device. The method includes obtaining channel measurements for each of the at least two antenna subarrays. Channel covariance information between the subarrays using the obtained channel measurements is determined. Channel covariance information between all individual antenna elements of the antenna system is determined by interpolating the channel covariance information between the subarrays according to a spatial relation between all first spatial separations and all second spatial separations. Combining of the individual antenna elements of the antenna system is controlled based on the determined channel covariance information between all the individual antenna elements.

  • Patent number: 10278085
Abstract: The present solution ensures that the UEs are able to make use of all the available reference signals that can be used in a cell for performing UE measurements, estimations or demodulations. That is achieved by indicating on a downlink common or shared channel, the MIMO mode settings associated with a specific network node. The indicated MIMO mode settings explicitly or implicitly indicate available common reference signals and/or dedicated reference signals to be used for said UE measurements, estimations or demodulations, which implies that measurements, estimations or demodulations can be performed based on said received indication.
