  • Patent number: 7305229
Abstract: This disclosure is concerned with systems and methods for network communications. In one example, a cellular telecommunications network includes a radio access network with multiple geographically distributed cells, and further includes a core network for providing cellular telecommunications network functions to devices registered therewith over a cellular telecommunications network bearer. The cellular telecommunications network is adapted to provide core network cellular telecommunications network functions to devices registered therewith over a non-cellular telecommunications network bearer via another access network including a plurality of access points. Further, the core network is configured to receive an identifier of said other access network when a device communicates with the core via an access point and selects a charge for providing telecommunications services in dependence upon the value of that identifier.

  • Publication number: 20070174250
Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and method for generating a subset of relevant entries. In one embodiment, a module comprises an input, a mapper, an extractor, a comparer, and an output. The input accepts a request from a user and the mapper maps the request to a predetermined formula corresponding to a range of birthdates. The extractor extracts birthdate information from each of a plurality of database entries and the comparer compares the extracted birthdate information to the range of birthdates. Entries within the range are flagged and the output generates a subset of relevant entries based on the flagged entries.

  • Publication number: 20070090693
Abstract: A pulsed power source minimizes current ripple disturbance in a main power supply by dividing the pulsed load into a plurality of pulsed sub-loads. The pulsed power source includes a plurality of pulsed load power supplies, each pulsed load power supply receiving charging power from the main power supply and providing pulsed energy to one of the plurality of pulsed sub-loads. Pulsed energy delivered to each of the plurality of pulsed sub-loads is out of phase with the other pulsed sub-loads, resulting in the input current provided by the main power supply having a reduced current ripple magnitude and increased current ripple frequency.

  • Publication number: 20060237479
Abstract: A post-mix beverage dispenser includes a jet, in fluid communication with a source of diluent, extending into a mixing chamber of the dispenser. The jet includes an aperture, typically in a sidewall thereof, configured to spray the diluent. A diffuser is disposed below the jet. The concentrate is emitted into the mixing chamber. • Patent number: 7108156
Abstract: A post-mix beverage dispenser includes a diluent jet directed at a wall of a mixing chamber thereof such that a swirling descending mass of diluent is formed. A concentrate dispensing outlet ejects concentrate into the swirling mass of diluent causing turbulent mixing of the diluent and the concentrate to create a frothed or whipped beverage. Instead of creating a swirling mass of diluent, the diluent jet and concentrate dispensing outlet may be oriented substantially directly at one another such that the streams of concentrate and diluent collide causing a turbulent mixing of the diluent and the concentrate.

  • Publication number: 20060196886
Abstract: A multiple dispenser assembly includes a nozzle having a plurality of beverage concentrate and diluent inlets and discharge outlets. An outer housing extends downwardly from the nozzle. The beverage concentrate inlets and outlets are configured to permit viscous beverage concentrates to pass therethrough in a selective manner. A diluent jet is disposed in fluid communication with the diluent outlet so as to direct diluent across a downward discharge axis of at least one of the discharge outlets to create a frothed beverage. Thus, the nozzle can accommodate a variety of beverage concentrate flavors and selectively froth at least one of the beverages.

  • Patent number: 7070068
Abstract: A post-mix beverage dispenser includes a jet, in fluid communication with a source of non-carbonated diluent, extending into a mixing chamber of the dispenser. The jet includes an aperture, typically in a sidewall thereof, configured to spray the diluent towards the wall of the mixing chamber. A diffuser is disposed below the jet. The diffuser may be in fluid communication with a concentrate dispensing outlet so as to emit concentrate into the mixing chamber. The diluent and concentrate collide in the mixing chamber to create a frothed beverage.

  • Publication number: 20060068784
Abstract: This disclosure concerns methods and systems for network communications. In one example of such a method, respective groups of cells are first allocated to respective location regions. Next, respective indicators are received from various devices, indicating the identity of the cell occupied by the corresponding device. Additionally, a database is maintained that includes information concerning the location region occupied by each device. In operation, when a device switches from a radio access network to another access network, the other access network receives the indicator of the identity of the cell occupied by the device and, in dependence thereon, selects the location region which the device is deemed to occupy by a core network.

  • Publication number: 20060058020
Abstract: This disclosure concerns systems and methods for location updating in communications networks. In one example, when a device initiates a connection to an access network, by way of which a communications network is adapted to provide core network GSM functions to devices registered therewith over a non-GSM bearer, a core network interrogates the device to obtain, if available, data indicative of the cell occupied thereby, interrogates the core network to obtain, if available, an indicator of the identity of the cell occupied by the device, obtains, if available, data indicative of the location of the access point with which the device communicates, and, in dependence on that location, selects an access controller for communicating with the access point or instructs the device to attempt to connect to the GSM radio access network.

  • Publication number: 20060035646
Abstract: This disclosure concerns systems and methods for implementing location based services in communications networks. In one example, when the GMLC of a telecommunications network receives a request for the location of a mobile terminal, an SMLC is interrogated to obtain therefrom, if available, data indicative of the location of the relevant mobile terminal. The mobile terminal may be caused to selectively switch between a GSM radio access network and another access network if no location information is derivable from one of the access networks currently used by the device.
