Abstract: A data acquisition system (DAS) includes a plurality of processors comprising at least one first processor and a plurality of second processors. The at least one first processor is configured to receive at least one configuration file and generate at least one measurement data application from the at least one configuration file. The DAS also includes a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) coupled to the plurality of processors. The FPGA is configured to receive the at least one measurement data application and allocate at least a portion of one of the FPGA and at least one second processor of the plurality of second processors to calculate measurement data at least partially based on the at least one measurement data application and an availability of the at least a portion of the FPGA.

Abstract: A system for fetching multiple documents associated with a document from a server computer displays the document with an embedded document fetching icon on a client computer's monitor. In response to a single user selection of the document fetching icon, the system downloads from the server computer all the associated documents in a user-specified format to a user-specified location in the client computer.

Abstract: Providing a mobile terminal with system information which enables the terminal to access one of the cells of a cellular telecommunications system includes transmitting from the telecommunications system to all terminals within the cell, including the terminal, a system information indicator that makes available to the terminal system information to provide access to the system. The system information indicator is transmitted on the broadcast channel (BCH). The system information indicator may be a sub-set of the system information conventionally transmitted on the BCH but which is sufficient to allow the mobile terminal to access the network and obtain in the downlink further system information. Alternatively, the information transmitted in the BCH may be a profile index value which directs the mobile terminal to retrieve from a store of the mobile terminal system information pre-stored on the mobile terminal.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for performing fiber node splits in DOCSIS cable systems by performing remote modulation and/or demodulation in the fiber node. In the downstream direction, a high-speed digital fiber optic interface can be used to send data from the CMTS to the fiber node, which then modulates the data onto separate downstream interfaces for subsequent distribution of the downstream data to CMs and/or STBs. In the upstream direction, different upstream interfaces from the CMs and/or STBs may be demodulated into digital streams which can then be combined into a single, time division multiplexed digital stream that is transmitted to the CMTS. As such, the modulation and demodulation functions are performed remotely in the fiber node instead of at the CMTS.

A CMTS receiver is in communications with a plurality of cable modems, and a dynamic profile management module is in communication with the CMTS receiver. The dynamic profile management module establishes a communications profile for an upstream channel used by the CMTS receiver and at least one of the plurality of cable modems (the communications profile including a plurality of parameters associated with the upstream channel), continuously monitors performance metrics associated with communications across the upstream channel, and automatically adjusts the plurality of parameters of the communications profile in response to the monitored performance metrics.

Abstract: Transmitting from a mobile terminal to a telecommunication network data stored in a plurality of queues, each queue having a respective transmission priority, includes setting the data in each of the queues to be either primary data or secondary data, or a combination of primary data and secondary data. The data may be transmitted from the queues in an order in dependence upon the priority of the queue and whether the data in that queue are primary data or secondary data. Resources for data transmission may be allocated such that the primary data of each of the queues are transmitted at a minimum predetermined rate and such that the secondary data of each of the queues are transmitted at a maximum predetermined rate, greater than the minimum predetermined rate.

Abstract: A mobile telecommunications network includes a plurality of terminals, a core and a radio access network having a radio device for providing wireless communication resources to the terminals. Further provided is a processing device for recording information indicative of a movement cycle of at least one of the terminals through the radio access network and for identifying points within the movement cycle at which there are spare communication resources to provide a list of spare resource points to the terminal to enable the prediction of optimal data transfer points during a subsequent movement cycle of the terminal through the radio access network.
