  • Publication number: 20060072556
Abstract: A system and method for providing prognosticator performance verification to a subscriber includes a server, which receives allocation change signals from a plurality of prognosticators, and each allocation change is associated with an asset class. The allocation changes are processed by the server by attaching a time-date stamp on each and storing the allocation changes in a database in electronic communication with the server. The server, in response to subscriber request, executes a report module resident in its memory. The report module accesses the allocation changes in the database, and with the allocation changes, generates a allocation change performance report, called a medallion report. The medallion report displays, in chart form, a plurality of signal asset classes using a plurality of chart parameters, the defaults for which are set by a prognosticator. The report module may verify the authenticity of the time-date stamps. Finally, the server sends the medallion report to the subscriber.

  • Publication number: 20060059336
Abstract: A method and system that allows a host system application to securely communicate with a legacy device is provided. A redirector software module receives data that is destined for a host system serial COM port. Data is secured and re-directed to a legacy device via a network port instead of the serial COM port. Conversely, data destined for the host system is provided to a device server via a server COM port by the legacy serial device. The data can be encrypted and sent to the host system via the network. The redirector software module decrypts the encrypted data and presents it to the consumer application as if the data had arrived via the local COM port.

  • Publication number: 20060043006
Abstract: An industrial sieving or screening machine has a resonator rod on the separator screen. The rod extends between two spaced ends and has a transducer located at one end to excite the rod over its length to assist with deblinding the screen. The rod may be spiral in shape or shaped with other smoothly blended complex curves such as an S-shape. A spiral rod resonator fixed to the top of the sieve screen may be used as a guide for material to be screened.

  • Publication number: 20050210039
Abstract: A symbol vector received from a multiple antenna transmitting array is detected using a sphere decoder. The sphere decoder is used to select from a set of candidate binary strings that string which is most likely to have been transmitted. Soft information for use in a turbo decoder or the like is obtained by considering cost functions for a set of candidate strings, including strings derived from the most likely string by flipping one or more bits thereof.

  • Publication number: 20050045343
Abstract: A method of suspending an electric submergible pumping system within a wellbore includes inserting an electric cable within a conduit, such as coiled tubing, before the conduit is deployed downhole. The electric cable is inserted into the conduit at the surface and is permitted to buckle in a manner so that the electric cable buckles and uniformly contacts an interior surface of the conduit at a plurality of locations along the entire length of coiled tubing to prevent longitudinal movement of the electric cable within the conduit. An electric submergible pumping system is then connected to the conduit, and the electric cable is connected to an electric motor of the electric submergible pumping system. The electric submergible pumping system and the conduit are inserted into the wellbore.

  • Publication number: 20040181742
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for producing branch metrics in a LogMAP turbo decoding operation. During a forward recursion of a trellis, a set of primary branch metrics is generated. The primary branch metrics are stored in receiver form in a relatively small memory cache module (370) and corresponding secondary branch metrics are produced by negating the primary branch metrics. The primary branch metrics and said secondary branch metrics constitute all possible branch metrics for a given state in the trellis. During a backwards recursion of the trellis, the stored primary branch metrics are retrieved from the memory cache module (370) and the secondary branch metrics are regenerated by negating the retrieved primary branch metrics.

  • Publication number: 20040181419
Abstract: A decoding scheme for determining the information within a coded transmission includes a spherical decoder candidate search that reduces the number of candidate symbol combinations from a much larger number of possibly transmitted combinations. In one example, the spherical decoder uses an upper triangular matrix representation of the channel matrix as part of a recursive, cumulative cost function that provides the results of the candidate search. The candidate search includes considering symbols in a hierarchy or tree structure that represents the possibly transmitted combinations. The cost function incrementally accumulates a cost of a possible combination as the search progresses through the hierarchy. As soon as a symbol is determined to not be a valid candidate, all possible combinations including that symbol are discarded without considering them, directly.

  • Publication number: 20040181406
Abstract: A method of iterative soft input-soft output decoding in which loglikelihood ratio and output extrinsic determination is performed upon a time slice of a trellis. A priori data input to the determination that are greater than or equal to a predetermined value are identified, and where such data is identified for any one time slice, that one time slice is removed from the determination. A quantizing function may be applied to the output extrinsic for each time slice. The quantizing function advantageously consists of a companding and flooring function. The quantized value is substituted for the output extrinsic value for that time slice.

  • Publication number: 20040042565
Abstract: A communication device comprising an ML-APP detector coupled to at least two antennas. The ML-APP detector comprises at least one Hx unit coupled to at least one LLR unit. The Hx unit generates a portion of all possible symbols that can be received and transfers each generated symbol candidate to the LLR unit which performs a conversion operation on the transferred symbol candidate to generate another symbol candidate that is not part of the special portion. In this manner all of the possible symbol candidates are obtained by the LLR unit. The LLR unit compares the symbol candidates to a received symbol to perform a cost calculation. The symbol candidate yielding the lowest cost from the cost calculations of all possible symbol candidates is selected as the best candidate. APP decoding is then performed on the selected candidate using soft information associated with the selected candidate which soft information is generated by the LLR unit.
