  • Publication number: 20180161080
Abstract: An orthopedic plate is specifically configured for use in osteotomies, in which part of the plate extends into a portion of a first bone segment and part is external to the cortical surface of an adjacent bone segment to fix the segments to allow them to fuse. The plate has a first end and a second end where the end which is inserted into the bone has a chamfer and a through hole having a hole axis optionally at an oblique angle to the longitudinal axis of the plate, and which can receive a screw, peg or pin. The second end of the plate includes a locking screw hole and optionally including a compression slot extending in a direction toward a screw hole in the opposing end. Optionally, the non-locking hole has a shroud that forms an arc or portion of a cylinder over the hole. A plate driver having a recess that holds the plate is used to insert the plate into the bone.

  • Publication number: 20180101009
Abstract: A head up display arrangement for a motor vehicle includes a head up display projector including a lens with a polarizer. The head up display projector emits a linearly polarized light field via the lens. A windshield reflects the light field such that the reflected light field is visible to a human driver of the motor vehicle as a virtual image. • Publication number: 20180101010
Abstract: A motor vehicle includes a head up display projector producing a light field such that the light field is reflected off of a windshield of the motor vehicle and is then visible to a driver of the motor vehicle as a virtual image. A sensor measures an effect of vibration on the motor vehicle and transmits a sensor signal dependent upon the measured effect. An actuator is coupled to the head up display projector and moves a component of the head up display projector such that a position and/or orientation of the virtual image as perceived by the driver is changed. An electronic processor is communicatively coupled to each of the head up display projector, the sensor and the actuator. The electronic processor receives the sensor signal and controls the actuator dependent upon the sensor signal such that the virtual image appears to be unaffected by the vibration.

  • Publication number: 20180081181
Abstract: A motor vehicle includes a head up display projector producing a light field based upon image data such that the light field is reflected off of a windshield of the motor vehicle and is then visible to a driver of the motor vehicle as a virtual image. First means determines locations of physical objects visible to the driver through the windshield. Second means determines locations of eyes of the driver. An electronic processor receives first data indicative of the determined locations of the physical objects, and receives second data indicative of the determined locations of the eyes of the driver. The electronic processor produces the image data dependent upon the first data and the second data such that a symbol in the virtual image appears to be in a predetermined position relative to a selected one of the physical objects.

  • Publication number: 20180039080
Abstract: A head up display arrangement for a motor vehicle includes an image source emitting a light field. A first freeform mirror is positioned to provide a first reflection of the light field. A generally concave second freeform mirror is positioned to receive the first reflection and provide a second reflection of the light field. The second reflection is reflected off of a windshield of the vehicle so as to be visible to a driver of the vehicle. An arcuate section of a surface of the generally concave second freeform mirror receives the first reflection and provides the second reflection. An angle between the first freeform mirror and an imaginary line that is tangent to a midpoint of the arcuate section of the surface of the generally concave second freeform mirror is approximately between thirty degrees and sixty degrees.

  • Publication number: 20180025610
Abstract: A multi-sensory sensor comprises at least a first and a second sensor element, wherein the multi-sensory sensor is adapted for attachment to a movable structure in a building. The multi-sensory sensor is operatively associated with a controller that is configured to receive input from said first sensor element, wherein the input is indicative of a movement of the movable structure. The controller is further configured to receive input from the second sensor element, and indirectly identify a human behavioural action in the building based on a combination of the input from the first sensor element and the input from the second sensor element. It is further configured to determine a function to be taken based on the identified action, and cause the function to be taken to be executed. In one embodiment the first sensor is a movement sensor element for sensing a movement and the second sensor element is an audio sensor element for sensing audio.

  • Publication number: 20180010993
Abstract: Drop-weight tower (110) for reproducibly initiating a crack in a material sample for fracture mechanics testing comprising a base (120) with a top surface upon which a sample holder (124) is mounted to grip a material sample, an attachment column (140) having a linear rail (142), a carriage (162) attached to the linear rail (142) and a stage (164) is attached to the carriage. The stage (164) includes a vertical rod (184) and a razor-blade holder (178). A weight is slidably mounted to the vertical rod (184). The carriage is used to adjust the height of the stage (164) relative to the material sample. A hammer (180) slides up and down the vertical rod (184) to apply consistent and reproducible force on the razor (178) that then initiates the crack in the material sample.

  • Publication number: 20170371165
Abstract: A head up display arrangement for a motor vehicle includes an image source emitting a virtual image based on image data. A mirror is positioned to reflect the virtual image such that the virtual image further reflects off of a windshield of the motor vehicle and is visible to a driver of the vehicle while eyes of the driver are disposed within an eyebox. A driver's input device is coupled to the mirror and changes an angle of reflection of the mirror and thereby changes a vertical level of the eyebox in response to input from the driver. A controller is communicatively coupled to the image source and produces the image data. The controller determines the angle of reflection of the mirror, and adjusts the image data in response to the change in the angle of reflection of the mirror such that a vertical level of the virtual image is unchanged by the change in the angle of reflection of the mirror.
