  • Publication number: 20150138972
Abstract: The present disclosure extends the flow control in a DSL communication system to include a remote back-pressure flow control within a DSL receiver of the DSL communication system. The remote back-pressure flow control can prevent a DSL transmitter of the DSL communication system from overwhelming the DSL receiver. The remote back-pressure flow control is implemented within a receiving network processor (rx-NP) of the DSL receiver to prevent the DSL transmitter from overwhelming the rx-NP.

  • Publication number: 20150023660
Abstract: A system, method and apparatus for power saving using burst-mode transmission over point-to-point physical connections. In one embodiment, a physical layer device (PHY) is provided that includes a data detector that is configured to generate a first control signal upon receipt of a non-idle code group over an interface between the PHY and a media access control (MAC) device and to generate a second control signal when all data received from the MAC device has been transmitted by the physical layer device. The PHY also includes a laser for transmission of data over an optical network cable, the laser being configured to perform a first transition from an off state to an on state based on the first control signal, and to perform a second transition from the on state back to the off state based on the second control signal.

  • Patent number: 8849883
Abstract: An asynchronous sample rate converter prevents the folding back of a signal in the passband of an input sample rate into the passband of the output sample by adaptively controlling the decimation rate. The ASRC includes an adaptive decimation rate controller that selectably controls a decimation filter based on the ratio of the input sampling rate to the output sampling rate. By adaptively controlling the decimation rate in the ASRC, a significant amount of area and power is saved.

  • Publication number: 20140205295
Abstract: A system and method for carrying control data in a preamble. A control-data bearing preamble is defined to facilitate end-to-end labeling and control-data transport. This control-data bearing preamble provides a unified labeling scheme with minimal overhead, which facilitates greater ease in parsing. The control-data bearing preamble can be converted to/from other control/labeling schemes at the edge of the control-data bearing preamble aware portion of the network.

  • Publication number: 20140187456
Abstract: A method of preparing a lubricant composition comprising at least one base oil component, at least one first additive component and at least one second additive component which method comprises: introducing into an elongate mixing vessel comprising at least one static mixer, at least one base oil component, at least one first additive component and at least one second additive component; the at least one first additive component being introduced into the mixing vessel separately from the at least one second additive component; and mixing the at least one second additive component with a mixture of the at least one first additive component and the at least one base oil component in the elongate mixing vessel using the at least one static mixer.

  • Publication number: 20140181548
Abstract: A system and method for using energy-efficient Ethernet to control energy efficiency in lower layers. In one example, an energy-efficiency control policy in a first Ethernet device can be configured to determine a need for transitioning of at least a part of the first Ethernet device into an energy saving sate. Based on such a determination, an energy-efficiency control signal can be transmitted from the first Ethernet device to a first non-Ethernet device. The receipt of the energy-efficiency control signal by the first non-Ethernet device is used to initiate a transition by the first non-Ethernet device into an energy saving state, which in turn may initiate a transition by downstream non-Ethernet devices into an energy saving state. This process creates a single unified energy-efficiency policy domain.

  • Patent number: 8661382
Abstract: Soft error modeling of circuits. Soft error upset (SEU) specification and design information is received from a design entry. The SEU specification comprises expected SEU behavior of a node. A logical simulation model is created based on the SEU specification and the design information. A logical verification is performed based on the logical simulation model to produce a first result. The logical verification comprises selecting a first node for injection, injecting an SEU into the first node to produce a first result, and responsive to the first result not agreeing with the SEU specification, providing the first result to the design entry. A netlist based on the SEU specification and the design information is created. The netlist comprises a specification-based-logic-derating derived from the SEU specification. A physical design verification based on the netlist, a logic derating, and clock information is performed.

  • Publication number: 20140047293
Abstract: A semiconductor circuit comprising a digital circuit portion, which comprises a combinatorial logic block. The semiconductor circuit further comprises a scan chain for loading and applying a predefined digital test pattern to inputs of the combinatorial logic block. A bi-directional communication port is adapted for writing incoming data to an address space of the digital circuit portion. Scan control hardware comprises a plurality of individually addressable scan control registers which are mapped to the address space of the bi-directional communication port. A method of testing the digital circuit portion involves, using the scan chain, writing bit values to inputs of the individually addressable scan control registers, and reading bit values from at least one output of an individually addressable scan control register. The method and semiconductor circuit allow thorough testing and diagnosing of failing semiconductor devices, including core logic thereof, while mounted on a printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 8511924
Abstract: A dispenser for viscous materials has a housing with a moveable wall that divides the interior volume of the housing into a distal product chamber and a proximal pressure chamber. An outlet from the product chamber is located adjacent to the distal end of the housing and an air inlet is provided to allow air to enter the pressure chamber. Displacement of the product occurs when accumulated excess air pressure in the pressure chamber acts on the back of the movable wall. The excess air pressure is built up by a bellows assembly arranged in fluid communication with the pressure chamber. On actuation, the bellows can be reduced in volume and subsequently recover by entry of air through the inlet. The direction of force application is preferably perpendicular to the housing axis and the location of the bellows is preferably distant from the product outlet.
