  • Patent number: 10121179
Abstract: A method of making an article of footwear is disclosed. The method includes the steps of designing an article of footwear via a website, converting a footwear representation into a set of two-dimensional portions, printing the two dimensional portions onto a sheet material, cutting and assembling the two dimensional portions into a finalized article of footwear. The method further includes a step of shipping the article of footwear to a pre-designated shipping address. Systems for receiving an order for a customized article of footwear are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10051914
Abstract: A material that includes at least one layer made of an auxetic structure and articles of footwear having soles comprising the materials. When the material is under tension, it expands in both the direction under tension and in the direction orthogonal to the direction under tension. The articles of footwear have soles that have at least one layer made of a material that has a pattern of apertures to provide the auxetic structure. The apertures are surrounded by sole portions that can rotate or pivot to change the size of the apertures. An outer covering can be mated with an outsole structure formed by the auxetic structure. The outer covering includes features that mate with the apertures in the outsole structure. The outer covering is elastic and can stretch to accommodate expansion of the auxetic structure.

  • Publication number: 20170213909
Abstract: According to an embodiment of a method for fabricating a trench field-effect transistor (trench FET), the method includes: forming a trench in a semiconductor substrate of a first conductivity type, the trench including sidewalls which taper from a wider, top portion of the trench to a narrower, bottom portion of the trench; forming a gate dielectric in the trench, the gate dielectric having substantially the same thickness in the wider, top portion of the trench as in the narrower, bottom portion of the trench; forming a gate electrode in the trench and separated from the semiconductor substrate by the gate dielectric; and forming a channel region of a second conductivity type in the semiconductor substrate after forming the trench and the gate dielectric, the channel region being disposed adjacent the trench. Trench FETs formed by the method are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9653597
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for fabricating a shallow and narrow trench field-effect transistor (trench FET). The method includes forming a trench within a semiconductor substrate of a first conductivity type, the trench including sidewalls and a bottom portion. The method further includes forming a substantially uniform gate dielectric in the trench, and forming a gate electrode within said trench and over said gate dielectric. The method also includes doping the semiconductor substrate to form a channel region of a second conductivity type after forming the trench. In one embodiment, the doping step is performed after forming the gate dielectric and after forming the gate electrode. In another embodiment, the doping step is performed after forming the gate dielectric, but prior to forming the gate electrode. Structures formed by the invention's method are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20170105478
Abstract: A method of customizing the sole structure of an article of footwear includes providing a sole structure with a sole component having an inner surface and an opposite-facing outer surface. The sole component includes a plurality of inner recesses extending from the inner surface and a plurality of outer recesses extending from the outer surface, the plurality of inner recesses include a blind-hole inner recess, the plurality of outer recesses include a blind-hole outer recess, and the blind-hole inner recess is generally aligned with the blind hole outer recess along a vertical direction. The plurality of inner recesses and the plurality of outer recesses provide the sole component with an auxetic structure. The method further includes adjusting the flexibility of the sole component by selectively cutting or removing material from one or both of the blind-hole inner recess and the blind-hole outer recess.

Abstract: A material that includes at least one layer made of an auxetic structure and articles of footwear having soles comprising the materials. When the material is under tension, it expands in both the direction under tension and in the directional orthogonal to the direction under tension. The articles of footwear have soles that have at least one layer made of a material that has a pattern of sole elements with apertures. The sole elements have may rotate with respect to each other when the sole is under lateral or longitudinal tension, thus increasing the lateral and longitudinal dimensions of the sole. One or more auxetic or flat liners may be used to prevent entry of debris into the apertures.

  • Patent number: 9549590
Abstract: A material that includes at least one layer made of an auxetic structure and articles of footwear having soles comprising the materials. The articles of footwear have sole components that have at least one layer made of a material that has a pattern of geometrical patterns. The geometrical patterns have hinged portions that rotate with respect to each other when the sole is under lateral or longitudinal tension, thus increasing the lateral and longitudinal dimensions of the sole. The sole component may include a pattern of recesses with varying depths, sizes, and shapes disposed along the inner surface as well as the outer surface of the sole component.
