  • Patent number: 7289911
Abstract: The present invention relates to systems, methods, and computer program products for the analysis of gene expression data, especially data that have been acquired using microarray technologies. The present invention relates to methods for partitioning a set of genes into clusters, based on the similarity of the genes' rates of messenger RNA synthesis. The present invention also relates to methods for annotating clusters with words or phrases that are extracted from documents associated with genes in the clusters. The present invention also relates to methods for evaluating the quality of clustering based on the extend to which documents associated with genes in a cluster collectively distinguish that cluster from all the other clusters, as well as the extent to which some words and phrases, present in documents associated with genes in the cluster, collectively distinguish that cluster from all the other clusters.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a piston adapted for reciprocal movement within the cylinders of an internal combustion engine. The piston includes a body having a crown formed at the uppermost margins of the body and a skirt, depending from the crown, adapted for relative sliding motion with respect to the cylinder. The piston further includes a coating bonded to the piston skirt so as to be juxtaposed between the skirt and the cylinder. The coating has a plurality of recesses formed thereon so as to define a predetermined pattern of recesses on the surface of the skirt that retains lubricant between the skirt and the cylinder wall. The coating may also direct lubricant along the outer circumference of the piston skirt during reciprocal movement of the piston within a cylinder. A method of applying the coating to the piston skirt is also disclosed.

Abstract: An apparatus for conveying signals between a communications card and a signal utilization device or network. In one form (FIGS. 1,2), structures are provided for receiving an RJ series plug and for making electrical connection with at the contacts on the plug and conveying any signals on the contacts to a communications device such as a telephone, facsimile machine, modem, or a local area network adapter. A body (102) includes one or more recesses (106) which receive the plug. An expandable and stretchable membrane (114) isolates the contacts in the plug from electrical contact with an object in a surrounding environment such that passage of current from one or more of the electrical contacts to an object present in the surrounding environment is prevented. Also provided (FIGS. 7, 14) is a replaceable direct access arrangement (151, 258) which is replaceably held within the communications device (150, 250).

  • Patent number: 7069758
Abstract: A portable metal stud punching system has an alignment frame with an infeed alignment port in a first side and an outfeed alignment port in an opposite side. There is a punch and die positioned within the alignment frame. A length of metal stud is inserted through the infeed alignment port with one vertical side of the metal stud disposed between the punch and the die. A first hydraulic unit is attached to the punch and moves a first direction thereby inserting the punch into the die and punching a tab out of the vertical side of the metal stud. A second hydraulic unit moves the punch assembly in a direction perpendicular to the first direction of the first hydraulic unit. After the tab has been punched, the second hydraulic unit advances the metal stud by sliding the punch assembly a distance equal to the desired space between tabs. The punch is retracted by the first hydraulic unit and the punch assembly is returned to its original position by the second hydraulic unit.
