  • Patent number: 7379572
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for identifying at least one three-dimensionally extended lesion within a volumetric region encompassing an inner surface, an outer surface, and intervening tissue of a target organ. The method includes: (1) generating a set of voxels representing a total scanned volume from a set of cross-sectional images of the target organ; (2) performing segmentation to extract a set of voxels representing the volumetric region from the set of voxels representing the total scanned volume; (3) detecting a set of candidate lesions based on geometric feature values of each voxel in the set of voxels representing the volumetric region; and (4) selecting the at least one three-dimensionally extended lesion from the set of candidate lesions based on at least one of volumetric, morphologic, and texture feature values of each lesion in the set of candidate lesions.

  • Publication number: 20080079237
Abstract: For stabilizing a tractor and/or a trailer of a tractor-trailer unit against jackknifing, the tractor and/or trailer carries a gyroscopic mass which spins about a horizontal first axis. The tractor and/or trailer is operably uncoupled from the mass during a non-jackknifing of the tractor and/or trailer to permit free relative swiveling between the spinning mass and the tractor and/or trailer about a vertical second axis. Such relative movement can be prevented during a jackknifing state wherein a precessing of the spinning mass occurs about a horizontal third axis oriented perpendicular to the first axis and produces a torque that is transmitted to the jackknifing component for opposing the jackknifing motion thereof.

  • Patent number: 7156895
Abstract: A system for cleaning air wherein the air to be cleaned is bubbled up through an aqueous phase and an organic phase. The air is bubbled upwardly through the liquid to take advantage of the weight of the liquid to compress the gas, thereby increasing the solubility of the gas in the liquid. Because of specific gravity, the aqueous phase is generally at the bottom of at least one cylinder or container, and the organic phase is generally on top of the aqueous phase. Gases are removed either continuously or periodically to ensure that there are adequate reagents in the aqueous and organic phases, so that the reagents therein can be replaced as needed. There is no limit to the number of cylinders that can be used, depending upon the impurity and thus the amount of reagents to be used in treating the air.

  • Publication number: 20060228353
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel parathyroid hormone (PTH) and parathyroid hormone related protein (PTHrP) receptors (PTH1R and PTH3R) isolated from zebrafish. The receptors of the present invention share homology with previously identified parathyroid hormone (PTH)/parathyroid related protein (PTHrP) receptors. Isolated nucleic acid molecules are provided encoding the zebrafish PTH1R and PTH3R receptors. PTH1R and PTH3R receptor polypeptides are also provided, as are vectors, host cells and recombinant methods for producing the same. The invention further relates to screening methods for identifying agonists and antagonists of PTH1R and PTH3R receptor activity and to diagnostic and therapeutic methods.

  • Publication number: 20050131649
Abstract: The present invention relates to systems and methods for biomedical drug research, addressing major molecular, cell biological and biochemical information management issues within drug discovery and basic biomedical science. The invention allows scientists to enter biological, chemical, and/or molecular data into a central database, analyze the data entries according to entry attributes, and graphically view the results. A group of web-enabled researchers can enter, share and analyze molecular and cellular data and information from the resources using standardized vocabularies and ontologies. This application describes in detail components of the databasing system, including but not limited to annotation modules, reference managers, advanced search algorithms, ontology browsers, molecular network builders, and text processing scripts.

  • Publication number: 20050122916
Abstract: The invention provides a system and method for testing a telephone or communications line to determine if the line qualifies for a particular type or class of communications service, for example DSL service. In accordance with one embodiment, a potential customer can download a software program. The program first performs a DSL distance qualification calculation. If the customer' line passes this step, the program determines whether the line coupled between the customer and a central office servicing that customer is electrically qualified for DSL communications. A series of tests to measure signal levels, noise, and other characteristics are performed by a test server, which generally include local loop tests to determine the presence of bridged taps, load coils, and subscriber line concentrators. After the tests are completed, the customer can receive the results, order completion and other instructions.

  • Patent number: 6786361
Abstract: A primarily cylindrical beverage cooling despiser (10), devised of two separate portions, by which collectively make up the exterior and interior. The upper portion consists of two separate chambers, one interior chamber (14) for containment of ice for cooling, and one exterior chamber (12) for containment of beverage. Both chambers though mutually exclusive of each other, once filled with their intended containment by virtue of their connective proximity to one another associate a thermal communication with one another resulting in the cooling of contained beverage. Additionally the upper portion includes a lid (56), comprised as a common two-in-one combination lid. The bottom portion of the exterior is represented as the base (16), which supports the upper portions contents and additionally supports a tap/faucet (18), and tap/faucet handle (20) arrangement for the controlled release of the contained beverage content.
