Abstract: An altimeter apparatus for external fuselage mounting for an aircraft includes an altimeter circuit and a chassis. The altimeter circuit is coupled to an antenna system. The altimeter circuit is configured to generate a first signal and transmit the first signal via the antenna system, receive a second signal via the antenna system, wherein the second signal is a reflected version of the first signal, and determine an altitude based on the first and second signals. The chassis is configured to contain the altimeter circuit and the antenna system, wherein the chassis is connected to a fuselage of the aircraft and is located outside of the aircraft.

Abstract: Systems and method for pre-fitting a sound processing device for a user in accordance with embodiments of the invention are disclosed. In many embodiments, systems and methods can be executed by a computing device and include obtaining a hearing map representing the user's hearing, establishing a virtual signal processing path in the computing device which reflects a signal processing function of the sound processing device, updating parameters of the virtual signal processing path based on said hearing map, and passing an audio signal through the virtual signal processing path and playing back the processed audio signal to the user.

Abstract: A vascular thermography system includes a portable electronic device and a thermal image analyzer in communications therewith. The portable electronic device includes a thermal imager to generate a thermal image of an anatomical area of a patient, a display, a processor configured to display the thermal image on the display, and a transceiver coupled to the processor to transmit the thermal image. The thermal image analyzer receives the thermal image from the portable electronic device, determines an assessment on vascular health of the patient based on comparing the thermal image to a database of thermal images, and transmits the assessment to the portable electronic device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for fabricating a metal or ceramic component using a 3D printer. An entire 3D printed piece, including both the metal or ceramic component and one or more support structures, is created of a first metal or ceramic material. A sensitization layer is applied to all or part of the 3D printed piece to chemically alter portions of the first metal or ceramic material near the surface making those portions of the material more sensitive to the etching process. The etching process causes the affected material to deplete and separates the component from the support structures without requiring mechanical machining.

Abstract: Systems, apparatus, and methods measure a signal provided by a capacitance sensor, the signal indicative of a presence of an object proximate to the capacitance sensor. Responsive to measuring the signal, embodiments access control information in a memory to determine whether the signal is associated with a first qualifying event of the control information. Responsive to determining that the signal is associated with the first qualifying event, embodiments control a power consumption of a communication device.
