  • Patent number: 9610019
Abstract: A system for monitoring physical activity, in which activity data for an individual is be captured and stored whether the activity takes place in a health club or away from the health club (e.g. outdoors). The proposed approach is to capture heart rate data using an individual heart rate monitor (e.g. a chest belt) that has inbuilt memory for storing the heart rate data. The data is uploaded from the belt to a database, preferably a database that is accessible over the Internet, via a receiver station that will typically be located in a health club where the user is a member.

  • Patent number: 9597532
Abstract: A wearable breathing apparatus includes a thermal capacitor that a user inhales and exhales through. Inhaled air is cooled as it passes through the thermal capacitor, and exhaled air cools the material of the thermal capacitor for the next breathing cycle. The breathing apparatus may be used by a firefighter, for example, as a lightweight apparatus to enable the firefighter to safely breathe dangerously heated air, for example while in a fire shelter, that may otherwise cause injury to the user. The breathing apparatus advantageously does not require external power for cooling. The thermal capacitor may also be used as a part of a rebreather that uses a scrubber that removes carbon dioxide from exhaled air, for rebreathing. Further, the thermal capacitor may be used for other purposes, such as in recirculation of building air.

  • Publication number: 20170064870
Abstract: Various embodiments described herein include systems, methods and/or devices used to dissipate heat generated by electronic components in an electronic system (e.g., a memory system including closely spaced memory modules). Specifically, a heat sink includes an attachment structure and a tab. The attachment structure defines a slot configured to receive an edge of a substrate and thermally couple to a ground plane of the substrate. The tab is located opposite to the slot, and is configured to slide into a card guide slot of an assembly rack, such that in use, heat generated by at least one electronic component on the substrate is at least partially transferred through the ground plane to the attachment structure to be dissipated.

  • Publication number: 20170023995
Abstract: A capacitance sensing circuit receives an application of a power supply. The capacitance sensing circuit controls a switch circuit to connect the power supply to a processing device responsive to the application of the power supply. The capacitance sensing circuit receives, via a control interface and from the processing device, control information to configure the capacitance sensing circuit. The capacitance sensing circuit disconnects the power supply from the processing device subsequent to receiving the control information.

  • Publication number: 20160335841
Abstract: Games and gaming machines are provided with an outcome normalization feature. In a method of presenting and playing a game, a game outcome is selected. If the outcome has been selected a minimum number of times since the last time the outcome was presented, that game outcome is used as the outcome of the game and is presented to the player. Otherwise, another game outcome is selected and the process is repeated. A counter or tally may be utilized to tracking the number of times a particular outcome has been selected, wherein the counter is incremented when the outcome is selected and is reset to a base value when the outcome is presented.

  • Publication number: 20160321314
Abstract: Systems and methods for processing user requests for updating data in a CRM system. When a user requests to update data in the CRM system, it is determined if the requested data change involves a DCR-controlled field. If yes, the requested data change may be routed to the MDM system for validation first and the data change may not be used to update the CRM until the validation is successful. If the requested data change does not involve any DCR-controlled field, it may update the CRM immediately.

  • Patent number: 9407257
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to a method and apparatus to reduce power consumption in a passive matrix LCD driver circuit by using a plurality of drive buffers and active power management of sub-blocks in the passive matrix LCD drive circuit. Each drive buffer may operate in a first phase, which may include a high-drive mode to drive an LCD voltage to a threshold voltage level and a low-drive mode to modify the LCD voltage to approximate an input voltage of the drive buffer, and to maintain a constant LCD voltage level. The low-drive buffer consumes less current than the high-drive buffer, thus reducing power consumption. The drive buffer may also operate in a second phase, also a no-drive mode, in which the drive buffer and the bias voltage generator may be completely turned off, to further reduce power consumption. The drive buffer may be used to drive capacitive loads, as well as partially-resistive loads and inductive loads.
