Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a substrate with a device layer having different crystal orientations in different portions or areas. One layer of material having one crystal orientation may be bonded to a substrate having another crystal orientation. Then, a portion of the layer may be amorphized and annealed to be re-crystallized to the crystal orientation of the substrate. N- and P-type devices, such as tri-gate devices, may both be formed on the substrate, with each type of device having the proper crystal orientation along the top and side surfaces of the claimed region for optimum performance. For instance, a substrate may have a portion with a <100> crystal orientation along a top and sidewalls of an NMOS tri-gate transistor and another portion having a <110> crystal orientation along parallel top and sidewall surfaces of a PMOS tri-gate transistor.

Abstract: A control pedal disabling device includes a housing having a side opening or notch for receiving a pedal assembly component. The opening has a forward surface for bearing against the underside of a pedal assembly component. A rod is slidably mounted to the housing. The rod is movable across the opening to trap the pedal assembly component in the opening. The rod is also movable forwardly from the housing to bear against a vehicle floor, thereby preventing movement of the pedal assembly component toward the vehicle floor.

Abstract: End-to-end authentication capability based on public-key certificates is combined with the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) to allow a SIP node that receives a SIP request message to authenticate the sender of request. The SIP request message is sent with a digital signature generated with a private key of the sender and may include a certificate of the sender. The SIP request message my also be encrypted with a public key of the recipient. After receiving the SIP request, the receiving SIP node obtains a certificate of the sender and authenticates the sender based on the digital signature. The digital signature may be included in an Authorization header of the SIP request, or in a multipart message body constructed according to the S/MIME standard.

Abstract: A method and system for configuring a client computer for real-time communication is provided, in which configuration settings are sent to the computer in the form of a configuration document, such as mark-up language document, that is readable by the client computer. The client computer may request the configuration document on an as-needed basis, or may request to be notified whenever new configuration settings are needed.

Abstract: A bird toy providing activity for a pet bird such as a parrot including an enclosure receiving a slide in which treats can be placed. The slide is retracted into the enclosure to prevent access to the treats and cannot be pulled out until the pet bird rotates one or more predetermined orientations whereat the slide can be pulled out to access the treats. Appendages are provided to enable gripping of the slide and enclosure to allow rotation and pull out of the slide.

Abstract: A device, a software product, and a method for obtaining content in a peer-to-peer (P2P) network are provided. A request is received for content from a device. For example, using a browser, a user at the device selects a hyperlink indicating content that can be obtained by the user. The content may include an application and a media file. For example, the content may be a movie, a song, a picture, a game, a software application, etc. The request includes information associated with the device. The information associated with the device is added to a collection, which is a group of devices connected in a P2P network that have received the selected content. A file is sent to the device using the P2P network. The file includes the content and programmed instructions to instantiate a management application at the device and to execute the first content at the device.

Abstract: A system and method allowing engineers to create large scale, consumer oriented, distributed applications that utilize peer to peer messaging patterns and service oriented architectures. Applications built using the method produce operational cost curves typical of successful peer to peer systems. The system includes mechanisms to deal with reliably and securely sending messages over consumer grade networks that are inherently unreliable and insecure while still permitting direct, consumer-to-consumer messaging by virtue of an extensible Network Address Translation traversal strategy. The system and method allows for the creation of consumer applications by facilitating the identification, location and assembly of services running in a network on a plurality of devices. While the application of the system and method to the distribution of large digital media is readily apparent, the system and method is, in no way, limited to this domain.

Abstract: A method of presenting an advertisement to a user executing content at a device is provided. A request for content is sent to a device in a peer-to-peer (P2P) network. A file is received from the P2P network. The file includes the content requested and a campaign file. The campaign file includes information identifying when and which advertisements are presented to a user during execution of the requested content. The received file is installed and the requested content is executed. A time is determined for presenting an advertisement based on information read from the campaign file. At the determined time, the advertisement is requested and presented. The advertisement itself is delivered either in-advance of a request or on demand in response to a request as determined by the campaign file. The advertisement is delivered from either the content-requesting device, a peer or server in the P2P network, or a third party Internet delivery service.

Abstract: The present invention provides an electrically conductive adhesive composition having cured low modulus elastomer and metallurgically-bonded micron-sized metal particles and nano-sized metal particles. The low modulus elastomer provides the mechanical robustness and reliability by relieving the stresses generated; and the metallurgically-bonded micron-sized metal particles and nano-sized metal particles provide a continuous conducting path with minimized interface resistance. Addition of nano-sized metal particles lowers the fusion temperature and allows the metallurgical-bonding to occur at manageable temperatures.

When both a source and field sensors (electric and magnetic) are static, a bearing to the electromagnetic source can be obtained. If a single set of electric (E) and magnetic (B) sensors are in motion, multiple measurements permit location of the source. The method can be extended to networks of sensors allowing determination of the location of both stationary and moving sources. Abstract: A system for detecting and communicating the presence of one or more computing devices is presented. The invention also presents a method and system for aggregating presence information generated by multiple devices associated with a single user. A server acting as a presence agent on behalf of a first user receives and responds to a subscription request generated by a computing device operated by a second wishing to be permitted as a watcher of the first user. When the second user corresponds to access preferences of the first user, a notify message is sent to the second user's device that includes presence information indicative of an activity level and availability level associated with the first user. When the first user employs multiple computing devices, the server generates an aggregate presence document that is representative of the overall presence of the first user.
