  • Publication number: 20220222214
Abstract: A client machine writes to and reads from a virtual disk on a remote storage platform. Metadata is generated and stored in replicas on different metadata nodes of the storage platform. A modified log-structured merge tree is used to store and compact string-sorted tables of metadata. During file storage and compaction, a consistent file identification scheme is used across all metadata nodes. A fingerprint file is calculated for each SST (metadata) file on disk that includes hash values corresponding to regions of the SST file. To synchronize, the fingerprint files of two SST files are compared, and if any hash values are missing from a fingerprint file, then the key-value-timestamp triples corresponding to these missing hash values are sent to the SST file that is missing them. The SST file is compacted with the missing triples to create a new version of the SST file. The synchronization is bi-directional.

  • Patent number: 11381118
Abstract: An example method is provided for detecting and classifying foreign objects, performed at a computer system having one or more processors and memory storing one or more programs configured for execution by the one or more processors. The method includes obtaining a plurality of electrical measurements while a wireless-power-transmitting antenna is transmitting different power beacons. The method also includes forming a feature vector according to the plurality of electrical measurements. The method further includes detecting a presence of one or more foreign objects prior to transmitting wireless power to one or more wireless power receivers by inputting the feature vector to trained one or more classifiers, wherein each classifier is a machine-learning model trained to detect foreign objects distinct from the one or more wireless power receivers.

  • Publication number: 20220171045
Abstract: A wireless-power transmission system (WPTS) includes sensors, antennas, a power amplifier (PA), and integrated circuits (ICs). The antennas, upon receiving an amplified signal for the PA, are configured to radiate energy within a transmission field (TF) of the WPTS. The ICs are configured to receive sensor data indicating presence of an object within a keep-out zone (KOZ). The ICs are configured to classify using the sensor data the object as a sensitive object. While detecting presence of the sensitive object, the ICs are configured to forgo providing an instruction to the PA to amplify the signal. In accordance with a determination that the sensitive object is no longer detected the ICs are configured to determine whether an electronic device is within the TF and in accordance with a determination that the electronic device is within the TF the ICs are configured to instruct the PA to amplify the signal.

  • Publication number: 20220100710
Abstract: In a running distributed data storage system that actively processes I/Os, metadata nodes are commissioned and decommissioned without taking down the storage system and without introducing interruptions to metadata or payload data I/O. The inflow of reads and writes continues without interruption even while new metadata nodes are in the process of being added and/or removed and the strong consistency of the system is guaranteed. Commissioning and decommissioning nodes within the running system enables streamlined replacement of permanently failed nodes and advantageously enables the system to adapt elastically to workload changes. An illustrative distributed barrier logic (the “view change barrier”) controls a multi-state process that controls a coordinated step-wise progression of the metadata nodes from an old view to a new normal. Rules for I/O handling govern each state until the state machine loop has been traversed and the system reaches its new normal.

  • Publication number: 20220100618
Abstract: A strongly consistent distributed data storage system comprises an enhanced metadata service that is capable of fully recovering all metadata that goes missing when a metadata-carrying disk, disks, and/or partition fail. An illustrative recovery service runs automatically or on demand to bring the metadata node back into full service. Advantages of the recovery service include guaranteed full recovery of all missing metadata, including metadata still residing in commit logs, without impacting strong consistency guarantees of the metadata. The recovery service is network-traffic efficient. In preferred embodiments, the recovery service avoids metadata service downtime at the metadata node, thereby reducing the impact of metadata disk failure on the availability of the system. The disclosed metadata recovery techniques are said to be “self-healing” as they do not need manual intervention and instead automatically detect failures and automatically recover from the failures in a non-disruptive manner.

  • Publication number: 20210365634
Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to methods and systems for building an intelligent analytical platform to enable a device fabrication in material science. Material engineers and design engineers may face various challenges with existing knowledge, as more time and efforts are required in finding a relevant knowledge from the existing knowledge, mainly due to the unstructured form, for fabricating new devices. The present disclosure solves the technical problem of finding the relevant knowledge out of the existing knowledge, in a structured form by building an analytical platform. The unstructured format of the existing knowledge of the fabrication process is transformed into a structured format in terms of operation sequence knowledge graphs, using a set of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning models, and a knowledge representation model of the fabrication process. The structured format of the existing knowledge is hierarchically arranged to build the analytical platform.

  • Patent number: 11139699
Abstract: A wireless power transmitting system includes a power amplifier comprising a plurality of measurement points and a power amplifier controller integrated circuit (IC). In some embodiments, the power amplifier controller IC performs synchronization of the various components of the power amplifier, conducts impedance and temperature measurements at the measurements points, determines if a foreign object is within the transmission range of the wireless power transmitter, and decides if a shutdown of the power amplifier is needed. In some embodiments, the power amplifier controller IC determines through a transmitter controller IC, the presence of a foreign object within the transmission range and adjusts the power transmission to one or more receivers.
