  • Patent number: 7841523
Abstract: Payment card transactions at a point of sale (POS) are secured in certain embodiments by intercepting, with a POS security layer installed on a POS terminal, payment data from the POS terminal, transmitting the payment data from the POS security layer to a server security application installed on a POS server, and providing false payment data from the POS security layer to a POS terminal application installed on the POS terminal. The false payment data in various embodiments is processed as if it were the payment data, such that the POS terminal transmits an authorization request to the POS server using the false payment data. In addition, the authorization request may be transmitted from the POS server to a payment gateway.

  • Patent number: 7839391
Abstract: A segmented touch screen overlies the display or displays of a console having an operating system and display controller for the display. A touch screen controller is continuously connected to each of the touch screen segments and separate touch position information is obtained for each touch screen segment. The console operating system can be supplied with separate position information for each segment or with a single touch position for combined segments. A number of docking module ports near the display optionally receive docking modules that cover segments of the touch screen and display. A module, including tactile elements such as push button switches, can be docked at any port. When a module is detected, the touch screen segment under the module is disabled and the display under the module is switched to display module specific information.

  • Patent number: 7812272
Abstract: A layered mechanism for use in a circuit breaker fabricated by automated assembly operations includes a movable electrical contact mounted on a blade for movement relative to a stationary electrical contact. The major portion of the blade is substantially flat, and a handle is coupled to the blade to move said blade. A toggle spring is connected to the blade to apply a biasing force in the plane of the flat portion of the blade. The handle and blade form cooperating opposed surfaces that allow engagement of the handle with the blade so that movement of the handle can move the blade while allowing pivoting movement of the blade relative to the handle, while opposed surfaces resist upward pivoting movement of the blade when the toggle spring is attached to the blade during assembly of the circuit breaker.

  • Publication number: 20100136240
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for forming an aluminide coated article comprises: applying an aluminum composition to the article to form a precursor coating, heating the article to a migration temperature sufficient to diffuse a metal from the article into the precursor coating, and gasifying aluminum in the aluminum composition at a gasification temperature that is greater than or equal to the migration temperature. An outward grown aluminide coating forms on the article. In another embodiment, a method for forming an aluminide coated article, comprises: applying an aluminide composition an article to form a precursor coating, heating the article to a migration temperature of greater than or equal to 1,065° C., gasifying the aluminum at a gasification temperature of greater than or equal to 1,065° C., and forming an outward grown aluminide coating on less than 100% of a surface of the article.

  • Publication number: 20100058700
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved wall system where a wall form mold has a structural insulated core assembled to form a structural insulated panel (SIP) to form a concrete beam and concrete column to be poured anywhere within the wall as well as between building modules when placed together and erected vertically. The interlocking wall molds interlock within the wall as well as between panels and modules. The wall panels allow concrete columns and beams to be formed with an ICF in any size and shape. The structural insulated core consists of interlocking foam spacers and support channels which can be glued or screwed together to form an independent wall or as part of a precast wall with columns and beams integrated within the wall panels. Expanded and insulating flanges within the wall forming mold separates the wall forming structure from the wall surfaces.

  • Patent number: 7617602
Abstract: The temporary fastening system for joining upper and lower shell casings of a turbine to one another for maintenance purposes includes a stud/nut tensioning system employed in lieu of the conventional studs and nuts. Once the turbine is opened up and the inner shell and rotor removed, the upper and lower shell casings are temporarily secured to one another using studs received in registering openings in the horizontal flanges of the upper and lower shell casings and retainer plates serving as a stop for the stud/nut tensioning system. The tensioning system is hydraulically operated and avoids torsional force on the temporary studs. Once measurements are made, the turbine is again reopened and reassembled using the initially removed bolts or a third set of bolts to secure the upper and lower shell casings to one another.

  • Publication number: 20090199500
Abstract: A building form that uses two building panels made of a rigid board and a form filler and supported by light gauge framing members and integrating two adjacent building panel molds forming a ribbed chamber into which concrete can be poured. The building panels when jointed together form a depression within the mold panel for a concrete rib when concrete is poured over the building panels. In addition, each of the building panels when separated by another fire resistant board thereby forming a space between the panel molds forming a wider forming mold which becomes an integral part of the building panel. The separated building panels also allow for mechanical mean to be distributed. Additional forming means can be added for a wider and deeper forming structure. Several different transverse support beams can be used to increase the panel mold structural strength.

  • Publication number: 20090126833
Abstract: A slurry and slurry coating process for forming a diffusion aluminide coating on a substrate, including internal surfaces within the substrate. The process involves preparing a slurry of a powder containing a metallic aluminum alloy having a melting temperature higher than aluminum, an activator capable of forming a reactive halide vapor with the metallic aluminum, and a binder containing an organic polymer. The slurry is applied to surfaces of the substrate, which is then heated to burn off the binder, vaporize and react the activator with the metallic aluminum to form the halide vapor, react the halide vapor at the substrate surfaces to deposit aluminum on the surfaces, and diffuse the deposited aluminum into the surfaces to form a diffusion aluminide coating. The process can be tailored to selectively produce an inward or outward-type coating. The binder burns off to form an ash residue that can be readily removed.

  • Publication number: 20090114521
Abstract: A contaminated solvent recycling system comprises a distillation vessel having a distillation zone and a separate waste collection zone and heating means for heating contaminated solvent feed within the distillation zone vessel to distill off the solvent. By separating the distillation zone from the waste collection zone, the distillation zone can be made small enough to process small consecutive batches of contaminated solvent feed whilst the waste collection zone can be made large enough to accommodate waste accumulating from the distillation process for extended periods of time between waste removal operations.

  • Patent number: 7518482
Abstract: A trip unit in a miniature circuit breaker having a plurality of stacked bimetal elements welded front-to-back at one end and attached to a load terminal. The bimetal elements are made of similar compositions and have the same thickness. The free ends are connected to a yoke and to a pigtail that is optionally wound around the yoke in which the bimetals are received. The pigtail is connected to the conductive blade of the trip unit. To attach the pigtail from one direction, a notch is formed in the free end of one of the bimetals, exposing part of the other bimetal behind it. Or, two notches are formed in a staggered relationship such that the pigtail connections can be made from either direction. The stacked relationship of the bimetal elements allows the overall width of the circuit breaker to be reduced without sacrificing its rating requirements with one bimetal.

  • Publication number: 20090061863
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for a terminal device control server. The terminal device control server collecting, storing and providing information (i.e. device intelligence) relating to a plurality of terminal devices in a mobile communication network. A policy based control mechanism can be used in conjunction with one or more authorization lists and the device intelligence to respond to requests from various elements in the network to allow or deny access to the network or to services within the network to specific terminal devices. The device intelligence can alternatively be used to improve the effectiveness of service offerings in the network by providing information associated with a specific terminal device to other elements that adapt their services offerings and interactions to the capabilities of the specific terminal devices.
