    Abstract: The present invention provides carbon quantum dots, preparation method and uses thereof. The preparation method of the carbon quantum dots comprises the following steps: (1) preparing a dispersion of carbon based material; (2) mixing a solution of halogenated quinone with the dispersion of carbon based material and preparing a dispersion of carbon based-halogenated quinone composite material by halogenated quinone grafting method; (3) adding a solution of H2O2 to the dispersion of carbon based-halogenated quinone composite material and carrying out reaction thereof, obtaining reaction products; (4) carrying out solid-liquid separation to the reaction products, with the resulting filtrate continuing to react, thus obtaining a dispersion of carbon quantum dots. This method adopts metal-free catalytic oxidation, the process of which is safe, convenient and low-cost, and is performed under a mild reaction condition without adding additional substances which are difficult to be separated.

    Abstract: The present invention provides methods, processes, and systems for the manufacture of three-dimensional articles made of polymers using 3D printing. A layer of prepolymer is deposited on a build plate to form a powder bed. The deposited powder bed is heated to about 50° C. to about 170° C. Then, a solution of activating agent is printed on the powder bed in a predetermined pattern, and a stimulus is applied converting the prepolymer to the final polymer. After a predetermined period of time, sequential layers are printed to provide the three-dimensional article. The three-dimensional object can be cured to produce the three-dimensional article composed of the final polymers.

    Abstract: A method of reducing radiation dose for a selected organ on a patient in a computed tomography (CT) scan that uses an X-ray source to scan the patient. The method comprises a computer determining a tube start angle for the X-ray source of the CT scan based on a location of the selected organ, a starting location of the X-ray source, a beam width of the CT scan, and a pitch of the CT scan. The starting angle of the X-ray source of the CT scan can then be set based on the determined tube start angle. In some embodiments, the organ location, X-ray starting location, beam width, and pitch are used to determine the number of tube rotations from the X-ray starting location to the organ location. This tube rotation number can be used to determine the tube start angle.
