  • Patent number: 6467667
Abstract: Device for severing at least one optical fiber When severing optical fibers (1) with conventional severing devices, after the severing operation the severed fibers (1) are distributed in a disorderly manner on the second fixing element (26), with the result that they can only be removed with difficulty and laboriously. Using a bonding device (20, 21) in the form of a rocker (21) with an adhesive strip (20), the fiber ends are adhesively bonded on during the severing operation, with the result that they remain in an orderly manner on the adhesive strip after the severing operation. The rocker (21) is in this case mounted such that it can pivot between an inserting position and a severing position, in order to facilitate the insertion of the fibers (1).

  • Patent number: 6438312
Abstract: In order to fix mutually parallel light-guide ends in a clamping device, it has to be ensured, when using a standard clamping device for different numbers of light-guide ends, that the clamping device is positioned differently depending on the number of light-guide ends. Prior-art apparatuses are of very complex design and are difficult to use. The invention specifies an apparatus which is of straightforward design and in which, depending on the number of light-guide ends which are to be clamped, the clamping devices is fitted in each case in mounts assigned to the number of light-guide ends. The mounts are advantageously arranged here in the form of a centering body which, by rotation through 90° in each case about its longitudinal axis and/or through 180° about a transverse axis perpendicular to said longitudinal axis, is brought into a total of eight different positions. This provides fixedly predetermined mounts for a total of eight different numbers of light-guide ends.

  • Patent number: 6427557
Abstract: The device is provided with a heating jaw, which softens the protective layers of optical fibers in order to be able to cut them more easily and to pull them off. For particularly thick optical fibers, the heating jaw is provided with a longitudinal groove with which the contact surface to the optical fiber is enlarged and the heating of the protective layer is accelerated.

  • Publication number: 20010005048
Abstract: An arrangement for an electrical control circuit. The arrangement comprises a single-layer circuit board includes a first printed circuit; a circuit carrier substrate associated with the single-layer circuit board; a first bonding wire that electrically connects the first printed circuit and the circuit carrier substrate; and a second printed circuit that crosses with respect to the first electrically conductive path at a point. The first bonding wire and the first printed circuit define a first electrically conductive path; and the second printed circuit is electrically insulated from the first electrically conductive path at the point. Because of this arrangement, a potential-free intersection of printed circuits can be made in an especially simple manner.

  • Patent number: 6124703
Abstract: A voltage stabilizer configuration includes a voltage stabilizer having an in-phase-regulated actuator driven by a stabilized control voltage, a first network producing the control voltage and a second network. A stabilized output voltage is generated from a variable input voltage and is fed to a voltage regulator having a regulated output voltage supplying an electronic circuit and a reset circuit with voltage. A voltage signal of the electronic circuit and the input voltage are fed to the second network of the voltage stabilizer, so that a voltage is produced which is linked to the first network through an impedance. The voltage of the second network is approximately twice as large as the input voltage and interacts with the control voltage.

  • Patent number: 6120192
Abstract: A splicing means for welding light waveguides in or immediately at optical components is disclosed which includes an optical means for observing the ends of the light waveguides to be welded together and two oppositely directed electrodes arranged parallel but spaced apart from one another which affect the welding of the light waveguides by igniting an arc. Observation of the ends of the light waveguides to be welded is provided in the welding position by a stepped arrangement of electrodes whereby the electrode axes are offset from one another. Due to the stepped arrangement of the electrodes, the light waveguides can be observed in, for example, the region of a trans-axial channel of a light waveguide plug and can then be welded to one another in the same position.

  • Patent number: 5963698
Abstract: A splicing device for welding optical fibers in or close to optical components, in particular optical fiber plug connectors, comprises a first receptacle for the optical component and the associated first optical fiber, an axial adjustable second receptacle for the second optical fiber, an optical device for observing the optical fiber ends to be welded, and two electrodes arranged at a distance from each other, with the first receptacle being mounted so that it can pivot about a pivot axis that is aligned parallel to an axial direction in such a way that the end of the first optical fiber that is located in or close to the optical component can be pivoted in between the two electrodes.

  • Patent number: 5961260
Abstract: A CNC machine for producing spiral-toothed bevel gears is described, which has a first carriage supporting a tool spindle and is displaceable in height, and whose guide is disposed on a lateral surface of a machine housing, which is horizontally guided in a straight coordinate axis on a machine base. The tool spindle axis is parallel with the lateral surface and with the coordinate axis. Furthermore, the machine has a workpiece spindle support having a second carriage and a pivoting device with a vertical axis and is also horizontally guided on the machine base. The parallel arrangement of the tool spindle axis results in a new machine concept with a compact structure and optimal chip flow. Therefore the machine is particularly suited for heavy-duty dry milling. Since the tool spindle is not located above the area of the machine having a horizontal guide, it is possible to arrange a chip collector underneath the tool spindle, which can be reached by the chips essentially under the force of gravity.

  • Patent number: 5480687
Abstract: An optical waveguide is disclosed with a substantially planar substrate and a waveguide layer applied to the substrate. The invention resides in that the substrate consists of a synthetic resin or of a material having a high organic proportion. This has the advantage that the high index of refraction of the inorganic waveguide layer is combined with the material properties of the synthetic resin substrate, such as, for example, breaking resistance, plastic and thermoplastic moldability, photochemical structuring ability, and others.
