  • Patent number: 5369722
Abstract: An optical waveguide is disclosed with a substantially planar substrate and a waveguide layer applied to the substrate. The invention resides in that the substrate consists of a synthetic resin or of a material having a high organic proportion. This has the advantage that the high index of refraction of the inorganic waveguide layer is combined with the material properties of the synthetic resin substrate, such as, for example, breaking resistance, plastic and thermoplastic moldability, photochemical structuring ability, and others.

  • Patent number: 4980125
Abstract: Sinter materials having the constitution AgSnO.sub.2 Bi.sub.2 O.sub.3 CuO produced from an intraoxidized alloy powder have added thereto bismuth zirconate and/or bismuth titanate in parts by weight of preferably between 0.1 and 5%. For the production of these materials, bismuth zirconate and/or bismuth titanate is added as a separate powder to the intraoxidized alloy powder of AgSnO.sub.2 Bi.sub.2 O.sub.3 CuO. With such a contact material, the excess temperature behavior in motor contactors is significantly improved.

  • Patent number: 4913932
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the production of a filled layer component made out of a monolithic ceramic body by impregnating a ceramic layer body of dense and porous layers with liquid impregnating material which wets the ceramic and by applying contacts. According to the invention the contacts are applied following the impregnation process without any further intermediate steps, and an electrical bonding of the contacts to the metal filler takes place.

  • Patent number: 4894111
Abstract: A plug part for a releasable plug-type connection of light waveguides that can be manufactured with little outlay is provided which comprises a capillary having an acceptance opening for the light waveguide, a plug cylinder in which the capillary is disposed such that its acceptance opening is coaxially aligned relative to the outside circumference of the plug cylinder and a hardenable bonding agent which is introduced into the annular gap between the capillary and plug cylinder. The capillary is accepted between two centering tips for the precise adjustment in the plug cylinder. This adjustment ensues in a guide prism in which two cylindrical centering tip carriers with coaxially attached centering tips and the plug cylinder with the capillary loosely contained therein are placed, whereby the two centering tip carriers have the same outside diameter as the plug cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4714315
Abstract: Optical elements, which are to be connected to one another such as laser diodes, coupling optics and/or optical fibers and plug cylinders, are first secured to weldable adjustment members which are then displaced relative to one another with the coupling faces lying against one another without play until a desired position is reached and then are subsequently secured to each other by at least one spot weld in a region of a part seam formed by edges of the coupling faces by either laser beam welding or electron beam welding with the spot weld being positioned to obtain a high fixing precision and being spaced inwardly from a circle circumscribing the contour of the coupling face. The securing by the spot weld is both stable in time and also climate-resistant. The assembly is particularly suitable for the manufacture of optical transmitter modules and for plug parts of releasable plug connectors of light waveguides.

  • Patent number: 4565310
Abstract: A method and apparatus for cutting light waveguides by clamping the waveguides into clamping devices, stressing the clamped waveguides and then notching the stressed waveguides to initiate the cutting operation. The method and apparatus include an actuation element which opens the two clamping devices, releases the tensioning device and withdraws the notching device in a particular sequence and on release of the actuation element first allows the clamping devices to grip the waveguide, then has the tensioning device pivot one of the clamping devices to apply an axial tension on the waveguide and subsequently allows the notching device to notch the waveguide to initiate the cutting operation.

  • Patent number: 4443020
Abstract: A mechanical gripping device for rotating jaw chucks or collet chucks. With the known gripping devices, rotationally symmetrical parts can be gripped in a rotating jaw chuck or collet chuck either only from the outside or only from the inside. The invention is based upon the problem of creating a mechanical gripping device for inside and outside gripping. With the invention, in a bore hole of a spindle two axially displaceable disk-shaped spring plates are arranged which are pressed into respective end positions by springs arranged between them. Centrally to the disk-shaped spring plates a slide is arranged which is selectively coupleable with one of the two spring plates.

  • Patent number: 4421035
Abstract: A keyboard is pivotally mounted on a pull out shelf to be raised from a reference position to desired angles of inclination within a range of angles, and is associated with apparatus for positively locking the keyboard following movement of the keyboard to a desired angle of inclination and its release; with the weight of the keyboard acting to maintain locking action. The apparatus effecting the locking action comprises a toothed segment whose arc and teeth define a range of angles. Associated with the toothed segment is a supporting arm biased to follow upward keyboard movement and on which the keyboard after being raised to a desired angle of inclination rests.
