  • Patent number: 4650274
Abstract: A weld-on nut is welded to a metal component to form a portion of a battery grounding terminal. The weld-on nut is tinned or galvanized with an anti-corrosion metal coating. The weld-on nut is welded to the associated sheet metal component by means of an electric resistance welding operation. In order to protect the contact surface from fusion of the tinning by welding spatters, an electrode contact surface on the nut is arranged axially offset relative to an electrode abutment surface or transversely to the latter. This weld-on nut can be of extremely light and small construction. The nut also requires provision of only a relatively small centering hole in the sheet metal in the region of the welding position, whereby the sheet metal component is only very slightly weakened.

  • Patent number: 4627897
Abstract: This process, in which gas bubbles are formed in the electrolyte, is carried out in electrolytic cells which are non-partitioned or partitioned by at least one separator and in which at least one electrode is perforated. For this purpose, the electrolyte is caused to flow by means of gravity through the electrolytic cell in such a manner that a gas space is formed laterally to the main direction of flow of the electrolyte, both electrodes or the separators or one separator and the perforated electrode being wetted.

  • Patent number: 4260495
Abstract: Zeolites are prepared by hydrothermal crystallization of alkaline aqueous synthesis mixtures. Normally the zeolites are filtered and washed with water until the filtrate shows a pH of about 9 to 12. Sometimes, especially if the resulting zeolite consists of very fine particles, the zeolite filter cake shows thixotropic properties. If the filter cake is washed with diluted sodium hydroxide or only small amounts of water this thixotropy can be avoided.

  • Patent number: 4249099
Abstract: Armature reaction in a dynamo is reduced by constructing the main pole structure and/or the commutating pole structure with a plurality of iron lamina arranged parallel to the axis of rotation of the dynamo. The iron lamina are separated from each other by nonmagnetic or magnetically weak material of a predetermined thickness designed to cause a predetermined minimum but high reluctance to be offered to flux generated in the main or commutating pole structure as a result of armature current. The core of each pole may be split into a first and second core half at the root and in the direction of the axis of rotation. Each core half has a larger portion which extends to the adjacent core half of the neighboring pole, thereby forming a yoke. A smaller portion of each core half extends into the air gap between poles and, together with the corresponding portion of the core half of the neighboring pole which is similarly extended into the same air gap, forms a commutating pole.
