    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to fault management apparatus and method for an independently controlled steering system in a four wheel drive system. The apparatus includes: a steering system unit that is disposed at four wheels of a vehicle, controls steering of the wheels, and collects and transmits the state information of the wheels; and a control unit that controls the steering system unit in accordance with the state information transmitted from the steering system unit. According to the present disclosure, when there is a fault in one or more wheels of a four wheel drive vehicle, it is possible to stabilize the vehicle body by actively adjusting the steering angles of the wheels that normally work and the speed of the vehicle in accordance with the fault environment.

The error compensating unit combines a complex input signal with a frequency signal to generate a complex output signal. The complex output signal includes an error reference signal. The error detecting unit determines a location of the error reference signal in the complex output signal based on a real part of the complex output signal, and generates an error signal based on the location of the error reference signal. The oscillator generates the frequency signal with a frequency that varies based on the error signal. The complex input signal may be a VSB signal that is represented as a complex number, and the error reference signal may be a PN63 signal in a field synchronization signal of the complex input signal.

    Abstract: Method and apparatus for use with digital television receivers are included among the embodiments. In exemplary systems, components of an interfering analog television signal (e.g., an NTSC signal) in the same channel as a DTV signal are separately estimated and canceled from the DTV signal. For instance, separate frequency shifters produce shifted versions of the DTV signal, each shifter placing one interfering NTSC carrier signal at or near DC. A DC detector detects the NTSC carrier strength for each carrier, and carrier cancellation signals are synthesized based on these measured carrier strengths. This rejection filter is simpler than prior art filters that require phase-lock on the interfering carriers, and also allows the filter to operate when phase-lock on interfering carriers is difficult to obtain. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
