Patent number: 10174933Abstract: A positionable lighting unit for tools may have an LED light source powered by a battery with a control switch, all mounted upon a circuit board encased within a translucent and flexible casing. The control switch may then be activated though the casing without breaching the same so that a more sterile unit may be presented in those situations requiring sterility. The tool light also may have an adhesive, so it may be temporarily positioned according to a user's liking on a given tool. Emphasis is given to medical devices where a small field of vision and little room for movement may be prohibitive of desired lighting placement, but the light may be used on any suitable tool in any suitable medical or non-medical situation.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2017Date of Patent: January 8, 2019Inventors: Gregory Douglas Phillips, Jr., Matthew Neil Lamont, Banjamin Harris Timmins, Quinn Tate, Jonathan LeGrand Curtis, Theodore Espiritu

Patent number: 10065077Abstract: A climbing quickdraw is defined by first and second carabiners interconnected by looped webbing that has been overlapped and stitched to define a central, interconnecting portion that has four layers, and carabiner openings that are double layered. The length of webbing is formed in a loop such that the webbing is doubled over on itself until the ends are almost even with each other but not overlapping. The loop is then pressed flat so that the splice is near the center of the flattened loop and the webbing is four layers thick. The webbing is then securely sewn through all four layers on both sides of the splice, leaving an open loop at each end for attaching a carabiner. The new quickdraw can be made from woven webbing or from braided webbing. Braided webbing can be made of stretchy, energy absorbing nylon, giving the quickdraw energy absorbing properties. The braided webbing will also have mechanical properties that will allow it to stretch and absorb energy.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2017Date of Patent: September 4, 2018Assignee: Metolius Mountain Products, Inc.Inventor: Douglas Phillips

Patent number: 10042864Abstract: A mapping module is configured to create a preview layer that depicts attributes of real-world objects located within the boundaries of a map. The mapping module uses search criteria to highlight multiple attributes without separately creating a filtered data set for each attribute. The mapping module may change the boundaries of the map in response to changed search criteria. The mapping module may also change the displayed attributes in response to changed map boundaries. By highlighting the selected attributes, the mapping module helps to visually identify relationships between complex real-world objects.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 2016Date of Patent: August 7, 2018Assignee: IHS Global Inc.Inventors: Betsy Palkowsky, John Steven Reiter, Scott Steigerwald, Glyn Douglas Phillips, June Sugg
